RWS 48 feels rough when cocking

My shooting buddy has a 48 that when you cock it. It feels rough, best I can describe is like rubbing sandpaper, You can't hear anything but the lever vibrates I guess while it's being cocked. Any ideas on where it should be lubed to get rid of this problem. or is it something more serios that needs repair.

If the gun has never been tuned or lubed properly sounds like its time, debur it and lube and depending on how many shots has been fired thur it you might want to replace the spring and seal as well if you have any futher questions just ask!

Anthony, From your description, it could be sand between the piston compression tube and the inner wall of the compression tube or a broken spring. The best way to see is it needs to be taken apart. The best scenario is nothing is wrong so you clean and lube the RWS 48, and the worst is a broken spring and you replace it. Good Luck .......Bill

Sorry for the delay in getting back to You guys , but my phone lines have been down for a few days and I couldn't get online. Thanks for the advice guys. I have done a couple of chinese guns myself. but my buddy might just send it in for a tune.
