Oh, duh... sorry. My patches were much more dirty that yours. So I put the original Gamo scope on. Dialed it in with 3 scope changes....and subsequently got the 1/2" dime size groups like I used to get. I put blue locktite on all the screws when reassembling this time. After validating there was nothing wrong with the rifle, I put the CenterPoint back on. It was MUCH more difficult finding zero than the cheapO Gamo Scope....but eventually I found a half way decent POI. Shooting OK groups, but the difficulty in adjusting (compared to the Gamo scope) drove it into my thick skull that the scope is indeed shot.
So I'll order a new TS scope (not sure the CenterPoint is TS).
