Benjamin Legacy SE
« on: February 26, 2010, 07:36:26 AM »
Was this detuned Nitro model a special run for the Christmas season or offered as a regular item? I'm seeing quite a few barely used Nitros lately and wondered what the odds were of one of these showing up?

Thanks. Found it under Benjamin. Only 620fps....with what pellet? Hopefully not PBA's. I was thinking this might be more in the old pre-magnum range of around 700-750 fps. It's about like my Slavia 631 and I am willing to bet my collection it is no where near as smooth. That gun is practically recoiless. Too bad they tuned it so far down.

Looks to me that it would be a good buy if it were a .177. Good for plinking and targets for sure if it was detuned. Who would want to buy a .22 which is really best used for hunting that is detuned. Does not make sense.. JMO

it is a 12 ft/lb gun, guys... it will shoot mid weight pellets at 600ish or a bit lower. A non FAC BSA will shoot at the same power and speed, and they use those for hunting (mostly under 40 yards) which is ok. Some of us are using 2250s for hunting pesting, and they seem to be fine. i bet is very smooth...

AoA's ad (which I assume is Crosman's) says it shoots around 620fps or around 7FPE with 7.9 grain pellets. To hit 12FPE requires over 800fps.

Gene, a slow .22 is ok for target/plinking, too. Lots of the older guns came in that caliber and were hunted at short range, as well.

I did not read that it was a 12 FPE. I was thinking about the cost of good .22 pellets these days..:) You guys are right. I was reading the ad at AOA and it does have a lighter cocking force and comes with a hard case. Not a bad deal after all..:)

My mistake, LongIsland! I've been thinking this gun was in .177, not .22, so didn't see the .22 designation. 620fps is pretty good in that platform. Did they offer it in .177, as well? That would be in the 700-800 range. Now I might have to add the SE to my list.

I do not think they made the Legacy SE with a wooden stock but you could probably use another models wood stock to replace the synthetic one.
