Replacing Piston Seal (Whisper)
« on: March 04, 2010, 10:08:35 PM »
I think I may need to replace the piston seal on my whisper, need some advice. I'm building my spring compressor now so I can take it out. The seal is one gene put in so I will just us my micrometer to get the proper size for it. My question is do I clean all the old tar out of the chamber and what do I you use to clean it with, what lubricants will  I need and how much do I put on. What do I need to know about taking the trigger assembly out.

Thanks

Jeff

If you click on the green  Library link on the left side of the home page you will find an article title "All about lubricants". It also has a link to James maccari's website where you can purchase some of them if you want. As far as getting the seal out of your Whisper, if you go to   http://www.charliedatuna.com and click on the airgun info tab at the top, scroll down you will see a tune up file called B18/19. That works on Gamo 220-440 Shadow series etc. That should work for your Whisper, but I can't say for sure. Also on the library link, on the right side, under springs and seals you will see a link titled "seal sizing".
