When they ask what it is, I tell them "Sporting Goods". Or you could say it is a "pneumatic pump". I once tried to ship a BB gun and told the store owner that. He refused and I had to go to the main depot where it was accepted without problem. It shouldn't matter if it's a howitzer. A firearm goes to an FFL (if made after 1898 ) or to a Curios and Relics license holder, anyway. Black powder guns can go pretty much anywhere. But an individual store owner has the right to refuse, so it's best not to point these things out.

as an aside.... its not exactly kosher to ship alchohol... as a homebrewer we are always doing swaps and such.. .thats part of the fun making new beer and trying something someone else brewed as well..... ANYWAYS we always ship them as "Yeast Samples" if the person that is on the other end just happens to partake of the liquid... well thats hischoice all you sent was a sample of yeast

so yea be creative... best I seen in this post was a air powered hole puncher.... I like that lol!

UPS just picked the gun up at my front door. There was an additional charge, but it saved me a trip to the main hub. I think I will take Bob's advice and use FedEx from now on.

 I don't see any reason to lie to have a legal parcel delivered. The UPS store will never get a single penny from me again. I must have spent a couple hundred dollars shipping gifts in that store. Their loss.  snookman

I have shipped several air rifles from the UPS store closest to my house and have never been turned away. I did have to have a manager come out one time when a the clerk I was dealing with was uncertain. I simply explained that it was an air rifle, not a fire arm. He told the clerk it was legal and to process my shipment. I have shipped a great deal more air rifles with FedEx, from their location near where I work. The clerk there knows me very well and is always very friendly and has never questioned my shipping air rifles.
Perhaps a little educational discussion with the clerk's manager or supervisor would go a long way.

I had a long talk with the clerk about the differences between BATFE controlled firearms, and airguns. He called someone, I think at a corporate office,because he gave his store number, and was told not to accept the package. The clerk said they won't even accept an airsoft gun. I think the UPS stores that are taking airguns are bypassing company policy,and I say good for them. I think the reason the clerk asked me what was in the package was the name Best Airguns in the address that it was being shipped to. snookman
