AR2078 muzzle attachment test bed

Got to thinking...and goofing off.
The front sight got me thinking.  Reversed it...added O-rings (in real life, use black ones...used the green just for the photos, but they seem to work just as well).



You'd think the attachements would shoot off, but even after 100 rounds, shows no movement and can be removed and reattached by hand.



Made a hollow tube..a LDC...and a ported brake; all are the same weight and length  Will test them tomorrow for any changes in point of impact and group size.  

Know it changes the barrel a bit; more weight, a differnt vibrational pattern, and possible gas turbulence.  But It'
s going to be raining off and on tomorrow and I'll want something to do.

LOL thats pretty kewel.. I have an "attachment" of my own and it is held on with the barrel weight. Dosent hurt accuracy and it defenatly dissrupts the airflow :-p

Testing done...not perfect conditions as it was raining, but the 15yards I had for testiong were covered for 12 of them (had a 3 yard gap between cover).

ANYTHING hung on the muzzle...LDC, hollow tube, brake...tends to shoot a bit low left (about 1/3" low and 1/8" left). Doesn't make any diffeernce what it is...and it makes no difference as the point of impact stays stable.  Just for fun, moved the heavy barrel shroud/weight around and the grops shifted a bit too...so it's a weight/bending issue.

So long as the pellet doesn't "ping" anything inside, accuracy seems unchanged.  Doesn't help...doesn't hurt.

At least with the present arrangement, can use the apature sights and have the option of the LDC...will have to crank in the windge and elevation needed, but that's not such a horrible thing.

try slipping a piece of rubber car heater hose that fits snug between the barrel weight and the stock, about 3 to 6 inches long, helps get rid of vibration and helps accuracy on some rifles........just another idea.....works on one of mine
