How Loud are Big Bore Air Rifles?

Since I've never even seen one I was wondering how loud are they?  I mean are they as loud as a shotgun, .22, or a center fire?

When I attended Paul Capellos "American Airgunner" shoot last year Lee, aka: Shootist, brought along his dragonslayer which I believe was 50 caliber.  This is the only big bore air gun I've ever been near when it was shot so I have no reference to other big bores but I can tell you that the rifle was LOUD !!  It sounded like my 12 gauge deer hunting slug gun when it went off.   Oh yeah,,,, I forgot,,,,, it was way COOL !!
If NY ever allows air guns to be used for big game hunting I'd run out and buy one in a heart beat !!

I was thinking of one to hunt Coyotes in the burbs.  I guess the sound doesn't matter as much as can it knock them on their butts in one shot  I can't imagine it carrying any further than a shotgun slug can you?

Randy,,,, my knowledge of big bore air rifle is pretty much  "0" so I honestly have no idea as to what their effective range or power is.  I really should do some reading on them to become a little informed just in case my interests ever lead me in that direction  

Perhaps one of the other members who has knowledge on big bores can give us both the answer to your question.....  You have me interested as well
