G2H.............you mentioned going to heavier pills to hold down the flyers.  My R1, although a bit underscoped with the Blue Ribbon 4x seems to toss'em here and there kinda at will.  I have two sensitive wind flags out, a Hart front rest, windage top but with a leather bag which I talc, rabbit ear rear, loose grip.  Guess I am just that poor with a springer from the bench.  Heaviest I have are the R10's at 8.2..............suggestions?  I am going scrounging tomorrow for something with a bit more magnification..................probably have a few that will go to 30 yds but seriously doubt anything to get me to 10 meters.  This is also the one I use for 10m practice.

Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery.  Hit the target!  All else is twaddle.

TAJ45, I was using the .177 CPHPs and having 2 or 3 flyers out of 7 or 8 shots at 30 yard distance matches.  It drove me crazy...since I knew it wasn't me.  Later on I finally bought some heavier pellets (Beeman Kodiak) and everything worked out great.  I had always tried to stay with the CPHPs since they were less expensive.  I also shot the .177 Beeman FTS (Field Target Special) with my Crosman G1 Extreme.....and they're very consistant also.

Maybe it's the quality and not the weight that's the problem since the FTSs are lighter than the Kodiaks.

Hey TAJ45,
I Have some guns that do great with CPHPs also CP's 7.9gr and 10.5gr and some that don't like them  so much. Like Stanley I had a flier every now and then very annoying!! thinking it was maybe just my old shaky hands. I tried many others and  although still shaky, I found the .177 Beeman FTS to be way more consistent and at 8.8gr,so they may be worth a try? again this is not true of all my AG,s.
My Diana 52 seems to like FTS, so I did a quick 15 shot off the back deck rail at 30m to confirm the FTS...plus I needed an excuse to shoot.

Tony et al,

Not being familiar with that tgt, I don't have too good of an idea what the group size is..........near edge to far edge.  If D 52's are .22 then it looks like maybe 1.45 or larger inches still realizing you weren't doing a full blown bench effort.  What do you guys usually get for a 10 shot group at the 30 yd range.  iirc, the tgts have about .5" diameter and that would be tough to score on if the possible groups are around an inch which leaves the wind the wild card.

What do you guyz average group wise?  I found some Diabolo 8.5's round nose today so if the rain will let up by tomorrow, I'll try'em out.  Also picked up a Nygord pellet sizer which is probably nearly obsolete as most bbls are choked.  Also mounted a better scope on the Izzy and need to see what it likes best.  After I find out, the scope goes on the R1.

You can tell I am still green as grass with this AG stuff.  I don't know ferinstance that when you say a specific model whether or not that model came in more than one caliber or if certain pellets only come in one configuration..............still at the base of the learning curve.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery.  Hit the target!  All else is twaddle.

Ya, it is hard to score group shots at 30yds normally just do groups for fun:) One shot per target makes life easier at 30 yds. My Diana 52 is .177 cal, it is more accurate than i am capable of shooting:)i can shoot about 1/2in 30yd bench and (1" on the hand rail, the target above is 1/2"rings.)

Rain normally works in my favor... nobody but me outside. Shot the 25 open sight match and the 30y springer match with the flood lights on as it was getting dark. Didn't do great on either. Took a break to put the kids to bed and hang out with the wife for a few min and then it started pouring. So. the rain allowed me to shoot without attracting attention, but it's also more than I want to deal with (retrieving the target from across the swamp) as I think about crashing for the night.

I'm not too worried about the 25y match but i really want to get back in this one on a regular basis. I might have to start shooting 2 on the weekends I can get to the good spot (which happens every other weekend)
