Broken Marauder.
« on: April 26, 2010, 01:13:23 PM »
I installed a regulator today. It was ok I guess but didn't like it.
Problem is, the last time I degassed the rifle with the tool, something broke.
Once I got the rifle all put back together, I had a hard time getting her gassed back up.
I finally had to rush the fill (open the valve quickly on my tank) and then it decided to seal and fill.
I cocked the rifle but it wouldn't fire. I pulled it apart and found out that the sear pin broke.
Gonna have to call crosman and get it fixed,

Is your Mrod one of the "early" models with the "old" triggers ??  Isn't that sear pin the part that was breaking on the "old" triggers ??  If so Crosman should just send you a new one or a new trigger group.  Last time I spoke to Crosman customer service I was getting the newer, wider baffles, which they sent me for free. While I had the guy on the phone I mentioned that since my rifle was one of the first 100 it had the old trigger in it.  The guy told me that if the trigger ever breaks to just call them and they'd send me a new trigger group for free.  I don't know if this applies to your case or not but just thought I'd mention it....

Just spoke with Crosman and told them what happened. They are shipping a new sear out to me today. Guess I get to tear into a marauder trigger and replace it.
Watch the parts very closely and see where and how they all go. Cross my fingers.

Just put the new trigger in from Crosman, took all of 5 minutes. Crosman is really standing behind their work. I called them Tuesday and had the part in the mail today, no charge.

My M-Rod is serial number 57 or 59, can't remember..:) Never knew about an early and late trigger. News to me...:) I have sent my M-Rod off to Roal from the 850 forum. He now does tunes on the M-Rods. I just wanted shot count and accuracy. Nothin fancy. I would only use the M-Rod for paper. I did ask Roald for a 1lb trigger break if possible.
THE ONES I SLEEP WITH: BSA Lightning XL, AA TX-200, AA ProSport, BSA Ultra, HW-97K, Crosman NPSS .177, FX Cyclone, HW-30 Nicle Plated, AA-S200, Crosman Marauder, CZ-634, R-9 DG, Webley/Scott UK Tomahawk, Benji Kantana, Benji Marauder, Benji Discovery.....

From what I have read on other forums, The torsion link spring was added after the first one hundred guns, do to pressure from Crosman Lawyers.
The spring increases the trigger weight, and renders the the trigger weight spring almost useless.
With the torsion spring removed, you are suppose to be able to set the trigger under 1 lb easily.
So your gun should already have the light trigger if it was in the first 100. I have done this to my M-rod with nice results.
I could not imagine making the trigger spring any lighter now.
What is he going to do to increase shot count? I thought tunning the M-rod has been pretty well documented on the internet.
Why did't you work on your own M-rod?
