Just a Thought regarding Air Guns
« on: May 05, 2010, 03:51:46 AM »
When it comes to air guns and the questions they generate for thier owners,   I guess the best answer is, " It Depends".   We are all plagued with the AG that 'won't do this' or' won't do that.'    Or ' it does this' .  What do I do?    AGs are really complicated contraptions.   And when you are tempted to think only one thing is causing  the problem it is usually discovered to be several problems.    So,  I guess the best guess answer to any AG problem is...." It Depends".  And that is not being a smart -ss.

 Then begin the hunt.

Amen to that.... PCP/Pumps/Gas have more parts.. valves, springs. hammers, regulators etc etc... but these guys as long as the barrel is good and seals are holdingpretty much shoot.... sure there are tips and tuning for trigger groups and pressure/spring combos and thats an art and in its self complicated but if something goes wrong its more or less.... oh that seal is bad or the cup on the valve is leaking.... not to much to think about when fixing one..

springers on the other hand are pretty much a basic machine.... crude in design but do a job well.... lol other then trigger group they have have few parts and more or less are pretty much all the same animal.... BUT they are much harder to get to shoot well... they rely so much on the harmonics of the TOTAL machine that a touch here a bit there can turn one from a crappy shooter to a tack driver... or can turn that tack driver into a crappy shooter...

so ones complicated from aamount of partsstand point and the other group is complicated from a how the parts work together standpoint... lol

Mike, one air gun cannot do everything. Just like a shovel. You cannot take a car engine appart with it...:)  With that said I found early on that air guns are like tools. Each one has it's purpose or specialty. Just something to consider when buying your next air gun..:)
THE ONES I SLEEP WITH: BSA Lightning XL, AA TX-200, AA ProSport, BSA Ultra, HW-97K, Crosman NPSS .177, FX Cyclone, HW-30 Nicle Plated, AA-S200, Crosman Marauder, CZ-634, R-9 DG, Webley/Scott UK Tomahawk, Benji Kantana, Benji Marauder, Benji Discovery.....
