New 392 owner dumb question
« on: May 10, 2010, 03:12:52 AM »
I just took delivery on a new Benji 392, and the bolt is REALLY hard to pull back.  It doesn't feel like pulling against a heavy spring or anything... it's a "friction feeling", almost more like the bolt is warped/bent.
Is this normal?

I've got a 1971 Blue Streak, and it's butter compared to this (the spring on the oldster is a lot stiffer, though).

Thanks
-JC

Not normal for my 392.
If it's brand new you may want to contact Crosman to see what they have to say as it should be under warranty.
It may be a problem with the bolt. It may also be the interlock between the trigger and the bolt that prevents you from pulling the trigger with the bolt open.

The cam controls the amount of friction on the bolt. There are two screws holding the cam cover. To set cam, place rifle on a padded work surface and loosen both screws holding cam cover. Push cam cover toward the front of the gun and tighten one of the screws while knob is 1/2 way thru its twist. There should be tension on the bolt when you twist the knob clockwise on pistols or dovetail option rifles. When you have the bolt camming in properly re tighten both cam plate screws. You can place a drop or two of 30 wt non-detergent motor oil to lubricate if dry.
