Best to check with AM TRAK on the first part of your question.    And if you attempt to enter a Military Installation, be prepared for being turned around.    I needed to go on the base of Fort Gordon the other day and they make you pull your car/truck  aside and they search it thourghly.    Hood opened, trunk opened, interior searched,  under neath searched,  any packages  removed and examined.   All the while, you are under the gun and at times they use dogs to search.

Now this routine is if you are a civilian.   But they can and will stop anybody.      If your plan included taking a AG on base.....might not be worth it.   And you could bring down grief on your friend too.

At Ft Lewis up here in WA state you need to register your weapons before you can bring them on base. If you are staying off base during your visit you would be best served to leave it there while you go on base.
