Gamo issues issues...
« on: May 18, 2010, 05:28:32 AM »
Ok, possibly wrong forum for this, not specifically a gamo question, but possibly.

Last night i recieved and installed my Gold Trigger.  went smooth.  after installation, I test fired some pellets into an old phone book, my prefered garage shooting media.  i was noticing, a largely increased sound and recoil from my gun.  also, felt like increased cocking pressure.  and by increased sound and recoil, i'm talking 50% or  better.  i pulled the stock off, and looked through the slot on the bottom, during the entire cocking motion, and the spring looks good.  not broken, or akwardly bent.  looks like my AG is in very good shape.  What could cause this?  i checked the barrel, doesn't appear to be dieseling, i am aware of that, i cleaned the barrel for giggles, with a Simple Green patch, and came out with normal leading.  it is NOT leaving a cloud in the barrel, as if it were dieseling... i'm confused as to what could be going on.  i'm wondering if mabey my stock screws were, putting pressure on my spring, or piston, in some way.. and after removing the stock, it freed up movement, i dont know.  i will try to put some pellets on paper, to see if my POI has changed.

Any help is appreciated.

Well everyone says, charlie's trigger makes a new rifle out of it!  Guess you got more than your money's worth :)

ED, make sure you didn't lose the roller guide that I think your rifle may have. It's  usually a small plastic barrel shaped roller that fits over a small pin on the cocking lever. If it fell off when you removed the stock it might increase cocking effort. Also if you have a chronograph you could see if your rifle has a velocity problem due to a broken spring or a bad seal. Just a thought,

Ed one other thing to check would be the tightness of the stock screws including the trigger guard screws. It's possible to overtighten  them and bind up the stroke. You might try to back off a little if the screws seem real real tight.

i checked both of those, the screws aren't overly tight, but snug.  i use blue threadlock on all screws so i don't have to "Torque till it strips" to get them to stay.  also, the roller guide is still in there, i made sure of that.  the gun is still shooting dead on, i put a CPHP through a pigeons head last night, at about 9 yards, so i'm good as far as accuracy is going, its just a lot louder now... for whatever reason.  i still love my "diamond in the rough"
