Can the Dovetail be replaced with Weaver?
« on: June 08, 2010, 09:30:55 AM »
Seems on the RWS guns and the clones of them that the scope mount is removable. Can that be removed and a Weaver plate be attached in it's place? I have one M34 and 2 clones and instead of buying an adapter or riser I thought it would be cleaner to just change the base mount. Has anyone tried this and if so what plate did you use?

Mike. If you are referring to the rail on top that appears to be screwed on, then you won't find it particularly easy to remove and replace with another rail of your choosing. Those screw heads that you see aren't designed to be backed out. The RWS Diana rails that I have are spot welded from the underside necessitating dissasembly to get at. More trouble than it's worth (unless by necessity should your rail shear off like a 350 mag of mine did).Unless your rail has some discernable moveability I would recommend living with it and attaching a suitable adaptor like the UTG bases or the B-Square 17021.Yes those add on's will raise the height of the scope some but you can easily add a cheek piece to the stock's comb to elevate your fit for a better cheek and eye alignment and more comfortable natural sight picture.

Had already pulled the trigger on the one for the 52, I already have this for the M34 and it works great.

Try Opticsplanet, they got adapter and plate..search here >> http://www.opticsplanet.net/b-square-air-gun-adapters-risers-dovetail-to-picatinney-weaver-fits-9-5mm-13-5mm-dove.html

Already tried one of the B-Square plates and it went in the trash as the screws stripped and the back end of the plate just flopped around.
Thanks

Thanks this is very informative and answered my question. I got another UTG with the drop stop and some more medium rings. This will be for My B28.

Now I need to find a solution for the B30, what a beast!
