Renewed belief in springers!!!!!!!!!!
« on: May 31, 2010, 05:29:23 AM »
I picked up a new Storm XT from wally world yesterday.
I had a beeman RS2 model 1073 a few years ago and it was really heavy and not very accurate in my book.
Anyway i got the Storm home and within 30 minutes had the scope mounted and had run patches through the barrel until they came out clean.
First shot at 22 yds, was about 2 inches low.
I made a few minor scope adjustments and ended up changing from crosman pointed to crosman hollowpoints.
But within 10 or so shots I was hitting dime size groups easy!!!!!!!!!!
In fact, I had 3 shots that actually ended up "TOUCHING".
I was shocked.
This crosman storm XT has really opened my eyes to what all you fellows have been raving about.
I'm seriously thinking of building a spring compressor and doing a light tune on it.
And I'm thinking a good sanding and a couple coats of hand rubbed tru-oil would really make this gun shine.
Boy am I glad I went to walmart yesterday.

Great take on the Crosman Storm, Ray. For the money you cannot beat them..:) You would pay well over $200.00 for a Gamo and it will not shoot any better out of the box. Also you have a metal trigger in yours and that qualifies for a GRT-III trigger...:)

Congratulations on your new purchase.  Yep, some of those Chinese built Crosmans are really good (For their price)...glad you picked up an excellent one (Occasionally there's a few bad ones around).  If it still have the steel trigger you can replace it with Charlie Da Tuna's GRT III trigger and make it even better.  All three of my Crosmans; Sierra Pro, Storm XT and the G1 Extreme can reach out to 40 yards....pick off spent shotgun shells 6 to 7 out of 10 shots.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Phantom I bought to keep at my sister's. I just didn't have time to break it in or tune it at all, but it was a killer.

Now they have this Titan thing out with a ram, and I am getting twitchy again for a cheap new airgun fix. I don't know whether they are in CA area Walmarts yet, but I'll be watching...

I love my Storm XT. It has really smoothed out after 500 or so rounds. I made a head shot on a starling at 40yds. It likes cphp's and kodiaks the best and she likes a good firm hand on the forearm and really snug in the shoulder. Using the artillery hold it won't group very tight, but when I have a good firm grip and take my time it will stack'em at 30. Hope yours turns out as good as mine has.
