Titan NP package states "up to 695 FPS"???
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:40:12 PM »
Stopped by my local Walmart today and found they had a couple of the Crosman Titan NP rifles in stock. Priced at $149. The info on the  packaging says "up to 695 FPS"? I found the Model number on the package is C7M22NP. Over on the Yellow forum someone had photographed the Model number at his local Walmart and that one was C8M22NP. Guess Walmart is selling two different Titan NP models depending on where the Walmart is located. Different gas ram?

I suspect that "up to 695 FPS" will probably be more like 500-550 FPS with CPHP--which I think is far too slow. I usually consider a .22 pellet gun to be used for varmint control, but not with that velocity.

Has anyone seen this?

I picked one up this week Model C8M22NP. Package says up to 950fps with high velocity pellets up to 800 with sandard pellets. What ever standard pellets are.
Its a nice shoter!

Was at Wallyworld yesterday, they have the Titan and it's the "950fps" model. Only thing I can think of why there'd be a differance is your state may have restrictions on power level.

I did notice that they FINALLY have some 22 cal pellets. Picked up some CPHP's to try out.

I have the  C8M22NP and I've been curious what kind of numbers you guys have seen from this gun. Mine is shooting in the 715 range. The breech is very tight, to the point of having to find something to seat the pellet in, and then the barrel just loosens up the rest of the way thru. The stock on this gun was badly finished (way over sanded). I talked to Kim at crosman and she said send it to them. I'm willing to overlook the stock if the powerplant is up to snuff. The thing is very accurate. Just wondering if it should be making a little more power.

Skip, did you try a variety of pellets in your Titan? Which pellet shot at 715 FPS?

I was shooting cphp's. With RWS's 11.9 gn. it was shooting in the 700's. I have also shot the daisy wad cutters, another concern I have is the barrel. The breech is very tight and if I push a pellet thru it becomes loose the rest of the way thru. The gun is deadly accurate, I like the way it shoots, but I don't wanna spend alot of time if it's not gonna hold up.

I just went out and blew some pellets thru it and these are the results

CPHP                          RWS 11.9
712.3                         704.8
709.9                         691.3
732.2                         762.3
716.1                         718.9
738.1                         684.4
764.1                         663.9
716.6                         748.5
736.4                         747.6
742.8                         747.6
718.2                         765.8

Its not very consistant. I have about 200 pellets thru it. I smell smoke sometimes but don't see any. Is it possible its still dieseling and needs more break-in?

I picked up a titan a couple days ago and after a good cleaning, put on a weaver mount and a 3x9x32 centerpoint. It may be the jb bore paste or it may be a really good design but either way, it will group offhand 3/4" ctc @ 15 yards and roughly 2" @30 with as many 11.9gr. rws hobby pellets as i put downrange. Impressively accurate with that pellet. Kodiaks, daisy pointed, predators, crosman premiers and beeman match were more disappointing with quite a few fliers and much larger groups. I can't wait to see what kind of groups it will print benchrested. The only pellet i chronied was the premier 14.3 and i averaged 697fps with 8 shots taken before the battery started going and it error'd out on me. Roughly a 15ftlb gun. I'm pretty impressed.  J
