Pick the best pellet time
« on: June 06, 2010, 12:46:07 PM »
I purchased a Gamo 220 remanufactured from Natchez about a month ago. Did a home tune including a gold trigger, new guide, spring and seal. It all went well and I think it has around 200 - 250 pellets through it now, mostly CPHP's so after adding a new BSA AR3-12X44 scope and zeroing using CPHP's I thought I would try to sort out the 220's favorite pellet. My results in my mind are not totally conclusive. Of the eight pellet brands I used I think the CPHP are her favorite but the Daystate FT's are a close second. That said I don't think I would toss out the rest either. I think the results actually surprised me because of how well the gun shot so many types of pellets from the $5.95 a tin Peaks to the $12.99 a tin RWS Superdomes. All the groups are ten pellets each with no changes made to the zero on the scope. The distance across the shop and across the garage to the target is twenty eight feet. Maybe this  is too short a range to figure this out. What range does anyone else out there test at?

Nice gun & nice shooting Walt. Haven't tried several of those, but for 35 ft. in .17 cal I use Gamo Match ... and on occasion Premier Hollow Points. For any distance over 35 ft, - it's the hollow points.

You are fortunate indeed. Few springers will shoot just about any pellet and provide the groups that you are achieving. That's great. Better hang on to that gun.

Not quite done with her yet. It's part of my good old fashion wood and steel Gamo collection. All pretty close to stock except the guts.
