Gamo Pellets
« on: May 26, 2010, 07:45:55 PM »
I hear that Gamo has 'improved' their pellets. I still have the old stock but starting to get low. I do have guns that like them.
Anyone tried the new pellets and how are they? Have they changed all their offers or just some of them?

There's a thread around here saying their newer stuff is worst than their old stuff....at least for the Gamo Match pellets.  Don't know about their other pellets though.  I had bought 20 tins of the 500 count Match pellets before they changed over to the 250 count format...those were the one's that's supposed to be bad...made in China I believe.  :o(

I picked up some rockets in 177 not long ago in the 250 count tin, was able to hit a penny consistently at 10 yards. Don't know if that helps.

Thanks guys. The old stock surprised me at times but not consistently. I have decided to go over to the better pellets. For what I shoot it won't break me. But why can't they leave things alone. I really liked the Hunter in .177. Used to always use them to zero a scope as they were always in the ballpark of other pellets...

I have been using Rockets in my Big Cat for squirrel control.  Pellets in 4 out of 5 tins all had bright lead and shiny bb tips.   Consistently shot 1/2" groups at 10 yds with these.  One tin had dull colored lead and tips.  The vast majority of the pellets in the fifth tin were over sized .   I sprayed pellets all over the place with this batch.  Appears quality control, at least at the batch level, is inconsistent.

Fldtrlr,

The only tin of Gammo rockets were a nice bright shinny all around, however I prefer using the CPHP's for everything. I do not have many squirrel's around my neck of the woods, but I do have plenty of bunnys and they are always a one shot drop with the CPHP's.

I was shooting an assortment of pellets today that included four different Gamo types. They all shot fine though my Gamo 220 and the Match pellets did real well. The Pro Mags I shot were from a 500 count tin and shot  pretty good. I did however pick up a 750 count container of Pro Mags from Cabalas a few months back and they were so undersized I was afraid to use them. It was almost like they were from a different maker. In general I don't go to Gamo pellets first.
