Tom, you will love your B 40, I had one issue with mine, nothing major, the breech was difficult to load a pellet into it. I used a dremel cone shaped aluminum oxide bit ($2.59)held between my thumband forefinger and swirled it a couple times to smooth out the roughness inside the breech. Just a QC issue, otherwise you will have a smooth accurate shooter plus a Mike Melick tune. Good luck Shoot Safe and Enjoy .......Bill

IMHO every springer in a way is hold sensitive, in variable degrees, some higher than others. The B 40 for me was very easy to adjust to its shooting style. Its a trail and error process and is different with each B 40. You need to just shoot it and adjust to find what works for you. Get as many pellets down range as possibly.

actually, out of all springers i would rate the 40 as not very hold sensitive. A rifle with muted recoil will not be too picky as to hoew you hold it. But a consistent hold will net you better results any time. I owned one for 2 years and it would shoot well in the strangest positions (while hunting). But hold it like a target rifle, resting the forestock on my fist and it made little cloverleafs at 40 yards no problem. You will absolutely love that rifle.

ive shooting the hell out of it and its great. im not into paper punching but ive been hitting a cig pack over and over at 40+ yds. and shooting the circle out of a pepsi can at the same range so i am extremley happy with it. mike sure knows how to tune a gun

Hey itsnotom, what scope are you using on your B40. I have one from MM but not tuned from him and I am having nothing but troubles getting it to center and zero less than a half dollar size at 35 yards.

Can you tell me what pellets you are using? Also might be good to know at what altitude do you live and what is the daily temps.
Mine will shoot good for a half dozen shots then start shooting wild as much as 3 inches off in any direction.
I have use these scopes.
Leapers 3-9x40
BSA Contender 4-16x44
Leapers Bugbuster 9x32
Leapers Bugbuster 3-9x32
Xisico 3-9x40 (42)
BSA 6-24x40
BSA 4-12x44.

That last scope will function ok and shoot most times in a half dollar size group using JSB exact 8.44 (4.52) and CPH 10.5g pellets. The CPL 7.9s shoot wild no matter what I try.

i currently have a 3x9x50AO leapers on there but want something bigger cause im shooting at longer ranges. i am using rws hpoints and sdomes do well also. but yours is 177 so its a different animal. have you tried your scope on a different gun to see if its shot loose? and you also need a stop pin in the scope mount to keep it from shifting. and what mounts are you using? i use a leapers one piece with no shift at all. call me at 352 942 3229 and ill see if i can help more

I am using the Xisico High Rings that Mike M sent me with the gun there is a stop pin on the rear ring. I marked the receiver with black marker to check for movement and there has not been any. I moved each of my scopes from working guns to the B40 and when they did not help I put them back on the original guns and zeroed them in with 5 shots or less. I just ordered Leapers 5th Gen 4-16x50AO Rifle Scope yesterday and it should be here tomorrow. I will mount that and move the other scope that has no dots to a close range shooter like my RWS 34P .22 and see if it holds true. I also have a Weaver adapter with weaver medium rings on the way so that new scope will not move at all once it is installed. I'll probably give you a call later this week just to touch base and say hello. Thanks for the help BTW.

you seem to have springer experience so i wont call it shooter error which is why alot of people dont like them. but you have a mm tuned 40 so it is not a hold sensitive gun. could be pellet choice. by that i mean 177 over 22. alot of guns shoot better in 22 because of the shot cycle
