A week ago or so I posted my disappointment with a replacement ram for the one that went flat and after the install in my hunter 440 it would only produce 550 fps or so but it felt when cocking it that it was all there and sounded just like the old one before it went bad. On Saturday night I turned out a top hat and spring guide and commenced to revert back to the spring when I noticed the ram front plastic cap had large cuts and scrapes on it so I started to investigate and when I put it in the piston noticed that it was very snug and the cuts were made buy the cut out in the piston so either the ram was to big or the piston to small, I do not know but I do know that after one minute in the lathe the ram fit with a little tolerance so I went ahead and reassemble the action and tested it thru the crony without installing the stock and WHALA it was pushing jsb 8.4 at 930 fps with out problem. the gun will most likely settle into 900 fps with those pellets after a good 200 shots and I think I have finally settled into the keep it under 950 fps thing. I have tried and achieved 1000 fps and slightly above but could not hit anything with any consistency past ten yards.
