Theoben strut for a Np?
« on: June 15, 2010, 08:52:48 AM »
Hello all,
Does anybody know a dealer that may cary a theoben strut that would fit the NP Trail.
I tried a couple & they said that the theoben rams they had would not fit the NP.
Thanks
Matthew

I heard the NP strut made for the Walther Falcon Hunter fits in the Trail NP.

Regular NP, but it does fit the XL, as you can see in the conversion I did that I posted on my blog: http://theblazingorange.blogspot.com/2010/06/converting-bs-super-streak-with-nitro.html

Personally, I have not opened up an NP, but I did install Falcon Hunter Nitro Pistons in Super Streaks.  Had to make a part and modify a few of the existing internal parts.

I spoke to 1 tech that said that the super streak &  benjamin XL where the same but the regular NP they
had not opened yet. So I belive that the strut is smaller in the NP.
But thanks for the infor.

Matthew, if you haven't already you should contact David Slade @ Airgunwerks. He's the Theoben man.

David,
I spoke to him today & he said that he has no experience with
that riffle yet.so I figured that I was out of luck for now.
I guess he is the guy.
Thanks.

What's wrong with the gas strut that came with the gun? It should last a very long time and if it's lost power have Crosman send you a replacement.

Mine shoots FTS 14.6 grain pellets 780 FPS and needs less than 30 lbs of cocking effort.

The gas strut that came with the NP is low on the power band so to speak, I pre crony tested it before the tune then after a tune. Most NP's should be in the high 600fps to around 720-730fps and this one is around 670. Even the cocking force is extra soft and I have a NP myself that is tuned. Like anything else one can get a weak Gas ram new or one that drop's in power out of the gate. Were just looking to stick a new one in to get her back to snuff. Ed

My Crosman NPSS gets 800 fps with 14.3 grain pellets, so yeah, your NP is pretty low on the power.  You might have a defective nitro piston.  Call up Crosman and have them send you a new one.  Ask for the person in charge of the tech/design department.
