Maxima looks to be a rehash...

...of the old, standard Gamo breakbarrel series (Shadow, 220, 440, 890, etc.)

Looks like it's supposed to be taking the place of the old 440 (it as the same rear sight). If you're seriously considering this, you might also want to think about the following options:

1) The discontinued 440 is still available at Natchez for $119.95. It doesn't look as fancy, but I believe you'll find its the same gun underneath.

2) You can get a factory refurb RWS48 .77 or .22 (directly from Umarex) for $226 - shipping included

3) You can also get a factory refurb RWS350 for $235 with shipping in .177 or .22

Roald,
Here is the RWS information you wanted. Contact:  Glenn Seiter who is a gunsmith at RWS in Arkansas at phone number - 479-646-4210. He has all the information you are looking for about refurb RWS guns of all models plus they also have unadvertised monthly specials on first quality guns. Worth a call if you are at all interested in anything RWS. I have communicated with him a number of times.

I left a message late on a  Friday afternoon, they called me back shortly before their quitting time.

They got the gun shipped out the following Monday, it arrived Thursday.

The rifle itself (a '48) works very well.

need, want, need, want, need, want, I don't NEED a big cheeseburger for lunch, I could easily have a peanut butter and jelly from my kitchen,.....but that isn't stopping me from driving through at Sonic!
