CFX .22 droop
« on: June 06, 2007, 03:01:41 AM »
I just ordered one and I'm shopping for scopes. Am I going to have to worry about barrel droop with this baby, or can I just go with a standard 1 piece mount? also, has anyone had any experience with this scope?http://www.airgundepot.com/nikko-stirling-scope-ngtc31250.html. Thanks

I think you should be ok with the scope mount you have coming with the gun.

I have two Nikko Sterling 4-12x42 scopes and really like them. They are on a CFX and an RWS 34. They are solid with smooth controls and very clear, precise optics, both with mil-dot reticles which I love. I'm very pleased with mine and would not hesitate to buy more of them or reccommend them. Good Choice!
As far as the barrel droop as concerned I don't believe any of the CFX's have that so regular mounts are needed. The mount that comes with the NS scope is nice, but lacks a scope stop pin which you definitely will need or the scope will travel backwards with use. I have been using the Accushot (Leapers) high scope mounts which have a built-in stop pin which works perfectly and also they give me plenty of access to the breech for pellet loading. They are less than $15 at Pyramid.
Enjoy your new toys!

Not a regular thing, Bill, but I had a CFX that had droop.  Probably a quirk of that particular gun, but I either had to use an adjustable mount or shim the scope.  Considering that everyone figured I was nuts (imagine that!), it must be rare, but I'd still check.

Decided on a Nikko-Sterling GC 4-12x42. It comes with a 1 piece mount, but I have an Accushot 1 piece on the way. Will let you guys know how it works.

Don't think you could call it a lemon, that gun shoots like a dream, my brother says he's stacking pellets at 20 to 30 yards.  But I do seem to have a lot of problems.  I sometimes feel that if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck :-)!  But it all seems to work out in the end.
