Ground Hog falls to new CFX 22
« on: June 11, 2007, 08:58:11 AM »
Finally got a clean shot at this destruction machine.  One CPHP pellet right through the eyeball.  The CFX came through at about 25 yards.  I did take some pics this time Ed and Jeff. :)

With that kind of performance, I may have to buy one.

Nice shot

Way to go David.. I bet he did not kick around to much after that shot..:) I think that you guys who hunt often can really show what these springers cand do.. The CFX is no exception to the rule.

Thanks for the pics

Thanks Bill, these ghogs are a real pain in the butt around here.  No natural predators left.  They destroy buildings by undermining them, eat my garden, and dig craters in my yard.  I shoot every one I see.  I can't shoot firearms in my neighborhood, but air rifles seem to draw no attention.  I only have 1.5 acres and this is the 5th one in the last couple weeks.  This is the first one I've shot with a 22 cal air rifle, and it sure did the job well.  I know there is one more out there cause I've seen him.  It's just a matter of time now :)

I like it pretty well so far.  It is long and heavy which seems to let me be a little more accurate with it than my other 22 springers.  Some Chrony results are 678 with CHPH, 736 with Gamo Match WC, and 770 with RWS Hobbys.  A CDT trigger is on the way which will improve it even more.  I still have a hard time getting used to the Gamo spring twang, but I will be installing a crosman spring and top hat down the road, and that seems to quiet them down quite a bit because the spring fits tighter on the spring guide.  I already JM lube tuned it and that helped some.  I did get another ghog with it last night but I had to take a body shot.  I was suprised that it rolled him right over.  It is breaking in nicely and I think it was worth the money.

Glad to hear its all working out for you. Thats right around 16fpe on the high side. Nto to bad concidering my ar shoots around 12 and my shadow shoots at about 13-14.

Is the gun as hold sensative as the rest of the gamo lineup?

I have a Phantom, a 440 Hunter, and a Quest, and I think the CFX will probably be the least hold sensitive of my Gamo type rifles.  I think it's due to its size mostly.  I wont be able to really give a good comparison  until I get my CDT trigger installed, as all of my other Gamo type rifles have the gold trigger already.
