Hello all. Great reading here as usual.
I got lucky tonight and had to share the story.
As per my usual M.O. I wandered over to Bruceland this evening around 8:45pm in search of some rabbits and shockingly found one. I had stalked all careful and quiet like around the back end of his holy shrine (The Garage) and surprised myself with a large rabbit sitting in his gravel driveway 30 yards away. I drew up a recently purchased, used and tuned Nitro 17 (* For those that remember me asking about a new gun suggestion awhile back I bought the RWS34 too!) with a 7.9 grain Crosman Premium Pointed and took a bead on it's head. "Thump!" ... drop." I was pleased to see the rabbit fall over like a dropped rock and move no more. As I began to come out from cover to get my prize I was surprised again by yet another rabbit albeit smaller, only 10 feet from the one I'd just dropped! It was clearly the dumber of the two as it sat in the light gray, gravel driveway saying over and over again in it's head, "I'm invisible. I'm invisible." I backed up, reloaded with another CPP and came out just enough to see the rabbit. I put the scope on it's head and squeezed ever so gently. "Thump!....run." Uh Oh! The rabbit ran about 60' and stopped realizing that it had not been bit my a mesquito. NOT FAR ENOUGH. I reloaded, corrected for distance, breathed and let fly. "Thump!...drop."
It was all over in the span of 45 seconds.
I apologize for not having pictures this time but the wife was told, " I'll be back in 5 minutes." as I expected to make my rounds from Bruceland into Kerwinia and then Garthton with nothing but exercise. When I returned 25 minutes later to retrieve some garbage bags she knew what had happened. To top it off, she was waiting for me to start the ritual "Friday night video." So.....she wasn't exactly willing to wait for me to take a picture of 2 dead rabbits and a gun.
Ah well. Good times....good times.
