Excellent material source!
« on: June 21, 2007, 07:19:30 AM »
You people may already know about this outfit, I know I got the link off one of the forums.  But if you happen to have a need for small quantities of plastics or metal for various airgun projects, check them out: http://www.onlinemetals.com/
That's the link for Online Metals.com, I just ordered a variety of stuff from them on Tuesday, it showed up today!  Granted, I'm only 200 miles from Seattle, so even UPS Ground is overnight, but that still qualifies as good service.  Prices seem reasonable, and it's nice not having to buy some of this stuff in huge quantities.  Hope it helps someone.

I find them to be a trifle high in price *but* the couple times I used them excellent service.  I generally price compare at use-enco.com and mcmastercar.  We used to have a great old school metal yard in town but that didn't fit in with the new upper class suburban "vision" our once blue collar town had.

Cheers

I had a time of it trying to find metal for my new start up business. Metal and good plastic is very expensive these days. I found this place: http://www.metalexpress.net/cgi-bin/index.pl?&ac=acHome&mod=core&sid=ebfae05e49b36d8dc4fe49e1cabe9a32 but it is still expensive. Lucky that I live like 30 miles away and can go pick it up without the added expense of UPS.

Gene, I just checked for 1" 6061 aluminum bar stock.   it is a fraction of what your company is at    http://www.aircraftspruce.com/
they do not have every thing, but what they do have is the best prices I found on the internet.   not a lot in steel but what they do have is reasonable.    12" of 1" 6061 is $2.90 at aircraft spruce...........same at metal express is $11.09   + $5 for shipping.   shipping at aircraft spruce is reasonable and added when you order.   have bought also at online metals.    john

Now I buy most of my metal by the pound and it is a load cheaper than by the foot..
