Can you post some pictures of the setup you've made, how you mounted the digicam, triger the camera to start filming, etc?

Let me give this a try. For some reason, the first time I tried to post a photo it wouldn't work. This is the only place I've had a problem.

My camera mount is made of some pieces arts that I had laying around. Basically it's made from an old Leupold extended front ring, and a camera quick release plate off of a cheapie camera tripod that I've had for years. Here she is on the Whisper.

Ok, the photo wouldn't post. Let me try a link to it.

It is amazing what ingenuity is displayed on this forum. Nice work, VarmintAir.

I just realized that I didn't answer your question about operating the camera. The panel you see on the side of the camera, when swung open is also the viewfinder. When taking a shot, I get the squirrel lined up in the crosshairs, at the same time I also get it lined up in the viewfinder and put the camera in record standby. Once I am satisfied with everything I reach up with my left hand and push the record button. This starts the tape rolling. I take the shot and then reach up and hit the record button again to stop the record function.

It takes a bit of getting use to, but it's second nature now.

Thanks Ron, this is something that has been in the back of my mind for some time. It took a bit of trial and error, but I've got a mounting system now that works just great.

If you're interested, here's a link to my video hosting site. I have about 50 different vids posted there. A lot of the later ones are in slo/mo.

They were all shot with the camera mounted either on my FX 2000, or the FX Whisper.

My guess is it would add weight to the scope and thus add to the "creep" problem inherent in springers. As for the camera, it may or may not be forgiving of the double recoil of a springer. If you are gonna do it, use a friend's camera! :)

I can only respond as it would apply to this particular model Canon camera. No, I don't think it would work. I tried it on my Monsoon, and the vibration of the action cycling caused the camera to stop recording. And believe me, there really isn't a whole lot of felt vibration when the action cycles. A springer is liable to shake the guts right out of this one.

It works for my canon camera,  My first video set-up was with a HW97

here is the set-up

here is a video with a springer being used, it does vibrate but not so bad you lose the picture but, you wont see the pellet flying.
