Shadow Parts?
« on: September 14, 2007, 05:52:28 AM »
Does anyone know of a source for a  barrel/breach assembly that would fit a Shadow Sport?
I got a patch stuck in mine, was too impatient to get shooting and ruined the bore in it.

Gamo won't sell me a replacement and I'm too embarrassed and cheap to take it to a gunsmith.

If I can't find anything then I suppose I'll have to take all the tune parts and put them into a Big Cat. Academy has them for around $120.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions I'd apprectiate it.

Rich in Mich might have used .177 Gamo barrels floating around. You'd have to remove the existing barrel from the breach block, but that's not that hard. You can contact him for details at:  peterdragin@comcast.net

I always thought it oughta be possible to adapt a Quest barrel assembly to the Shadow (and they're only $15!), but I never really chased that idea down. I believe the Crosman breachblock is a little narrower, which means that it shouldn't be that difficult...

Have you actually done the swap, or just measured things up?

It's a shame that .22 cal Quest barrels are not available as a service part. Perhaps that'll change as the 800X becomes more popular.

Mcmaster has bronze thrust washers (for about 50 cents each) that are close in size to the Quest washers (the hole has to be opened up a bit) but a bit thicker.. I wonder if they'll do the trick.

Hey Paul, if I'm looking at it right and the holes are close enough to the same spot. It looks like the pin hole on the cros barrel is smaller, might be able to enlarge it and have less, if any, machine work needed to the breech.

Not a problem. I am very limited on tools, so when I saw the pics, I thought that could be done with a drill press easy enough, as long as, the breech mates up correctly.

Well it was a thought, I knew you would get it taken care of either way.

I don't really need it, but wouldn't mind haven a spare, just in case. You could just put it in with that other project, when it's finished.

I don't want to start a bidding war, but since I'm the guy with the bad barrel maybe I could use it.

PM me with details.

Thanks, Dookie.

Ya know... shouldn't Gamo be a wee bit concerned...

...that several of their rifles are winding up with Crosman parts in 'em because Gamo won't sell them???
