New .22 CFX all boogered up...
« on: September 27, 2007, 01:59:12 AM »
The obvious thing was the rear sight being mis-installed - the locating pin wasn't in its hole so the whole sight was bent when they installed the rear screw.

Then I needed a mallet to open the breach, and finally after working it a few times flakes of what looked like hardened locktite started creeping out from between the breach and the tube.

Velocity with CPHP's is low, dipping into the 500's on some shots.

Really a major disappointment. Of course, it's gonna hafta go back - I'm hoping I can do it through the vendor (pyramydair) rather than through Gamo...

You must be the unluckiest airgunner ever or you just buy so many that you chances of getting a bad one re higher. I will say I wouldn't mind paying a little more for better quality control.

I don't believe any other vendor carries the .22 CFX.

Hopefully PyramidAir will replace it Vince. Even so, I would try and contact GamoUSA on this one since the CFX .22 is a limited export to the states and has only one vendor. Just my 2 cents worth 8) .

No hassle at all. The CS guy tells me that they get a LOT of returns on the .22 CFX - many have abnormally low velocities (some won't get out of the 500's).

They even sent me a shipping label.

Great Vince. Hope the replacement will be a good one. I still think we all need to know why there are so many problems with the .22 CFX's. Keep us posted on your progress.

Not in the U.S., no.
PA is the ONLY one over on our side of the pond.

I'm glad it happened. After I new the gun had to go back, it occurred to me that "I coulda had a 350!". And so it shall be, I ordered a refurb that didn't cost much more than the bad CFX.
