Shadow/Viper Re-Assembly Problem

I sent an email off to Charlie very similar to this.  Maybe someone can help me in advance.

I’m having what I hope is a minor re-assembly problem with my Gamo Viper.

Charlie's spring compressor plans were very helpful and the B19 guide has been excellent in helping me to do a polish/lube tune.  Disassembly was a breeze, however when I removed the spring I had a part come out of the cylinder I had not seen before.  I’ve seen it called a stepped bushing that fits over the spring guide (part no. 33730 on the Shadow 1000 drawing).

I think it goes between the cylinder and spring guide.  The stock recoil stud should pass through it.  It is keyed opposite to the plastic piece (part no. 33740) that fits between the trigger assembly and the stock recoil stud.  I’ve tried placing it and then compressing the spring, but there does not seem to be enough clearance.  I’ve tried using a short piece of dowel to compress the spring into the tube about an inch and then placing it.  I’ve also taken everything out and reversing the spring guide with the spacer on top to see if it fits.  No luck.

I’m probably missing something that is pretty simple because I can’t find where anyone else has had this problem.

Ok, I'm replying to my own question.  Maybe I have this wrong, but the more I look at this thing the more it looks like it should be on the outside of the cylinder.  The marks on it match the size of the stock recoil stud.

Can someone confirm this?  If so, I am certainly a big dork for not catching this on disassembly.

That is good  that you got it back together,let us know how she shoots now , mine is doing well,a little twang came back but not nearly as bad

Zip, Zilch, Nada!  I am truly amazed how quiet it is and, as far as I can tell, the recoil is now straight back as opposed to flying off to the right.

The seal still has some squeak after about 30 pellets.  Anyone have an idea how long until this stops?  I was pretty conservative in lubing.

I am thankful to the folks on this forum and a couple of others that I read for all the helpful information.  This was a great project.

Thanks, fix.  I'm going to do that.  The silicone grease I was able to find at NAPA is called Sil-Glyde.  There is not much information on the tube, but it works in brake applications so I'm assuming it will be fine for this.  Any opinions?

I'm also going to cross-hatch the chamber area a bit more.  I was being conservative there as well.
