New Eun Jin/Sumatra Pics...............

Like I mentioned in an earlier post the wood and metal work is great.

The scope is a BSA Platnum. The mounts are B-Square but they are to high. I will change to a BKL mount.

     You have a nice looking rifle. Looking at the pictures, you don't have much room to adjust the rings. It is a good looking set - up. Best of luck...

LOL Rabbit.. I through that scope and rings on for the picture.. I put a BKL mount in place of that one... It really is a blast to shoot. It has a different noise than the springer and Co2.. It is very accurate and powerful on full power with Eun Jin pellets, and also I tried the Beeman Kodiaks Extra Heavies... they also carry well at half power...

Have not put more than 50 or 60 pellets through it... What I like the most is the 6 round rotary magazine. It came with a spare which makes it really handy. Just cock slide out magazine and pop the other one back in and continue shooting. When I do take it out for a hunt I know that I will like the fact that I just need to cock and aim. POP!!  lol..

Really I enjoy my springers the best. Was out shooting my B26-2 .177 tonight and also my QB78 .22.. The B26-2 is lite and smooth to shoot. Not as much recoil as my Gamo's  

I love my springers and I they will aways be my favorites.. The reason I got the PCP was to have a decent PCP in my collection. The price was right. Same goes with my Co2 guns. Just got my  new Crosman 2300 custom built gun today and it is deadly accurate.. Very sweet hand gun.

I love this sport and will till the day I am pushin up daisys..

a flat charge to 3200 psi.. The pump is easy to pump except for the last 3 inches of travel... I weigh roughly 250 lbs and am built kinda stout. I have to stand up and bend my knees to let my body weight compress the pump after the first 50 pumps... he he

I have only set the Sumatra at half power with a full charge and using Beaman Kodiaks 21 gram pellets, I have run about 24 pellets through it and am half way down on my charge. I was told that at full power useing Eun Jin 29 gram pellets that I should get at least 20 good shots.

My reasoning is if when I take the Sumatra out on a hunt, I will take three rotary clips "18 pellets" with me and also take my CFX along. Each chamber holds 6 pellets. Oh and by the way, the 20 and 22 cals are rateded the same as far as flat tragectory and FPE. High is upwards of 60 plus FTE with a full charge and useing the heavy pellets"29gm".

Also a nice feature is that you can load any type of pellet you want. the Sumantra is not fussy. like 6 different weight pellets or shapes. I was told not to use to light a pellet or cheap pellets because they come appart in the barrel. They get blown to pieces before exiting the barrel.. lol

You can read the "Our Take" on the Eun Jin Sumatra .20 cal at Straightshooters. I was gonna get the .20 cal but after talking to them about there being little difference, I took the .22...

Oh the trigger... The trigger is fantastic out of the box. It is two stage and adjustible. Very smooth with definite break when fired. My trigger finger felt right at home..

The wood is Asian hard wood which is very clean and has a rich look about it. The Sumatra weighs about the same as my Hunter 1250 Royal 22. About 9.5 lbs with scope and mount. I have put a BKL scope mount on it since I took the picture. Scope is lower now. Was able to get the scope aligned perfect with my cheek as I aim. Very comfortable. The metal work is superb. The barrel and chambers are all blued. The blueing is exceptional compared to what I have seen in my collection of air guns. The bueing is even and has a high gloss. The chamber with the engraving is very well done. I just don't care for the hunting scenes.. lol. Reminds me of Roy Rogers old winchester.. he he.  The Sumantra is equiped with nice metal pepe site. It is simple but made to last. The Sumantra is very well made. Have not found any plastic on it yet.. he he.

For $400.00 you are getting way more per dollar in power and punch than the Daystates and other high end PCP's. Not that I would not like to own one of those.. Just not in my budget..  But the Sumantra has long distance knock down power..

I would give the Sumatra a 10 on accuracy. A 10 on ease of loading.  A 9.5 on asthetics..   A 8 for noise. lol... On full power with a Eun Jin 29 gram pellet, it sounds like a 30/30 goin off... Definetly not a back yard air gun..

Yep, I shot my buddy's Sumatra .22 Carbine and they are very nice. Handy, accurate, and well built.
I also shot his Talon SS and his Career DragonSlayer while trying to decide what PCP I wanted to buy to replace my old Career 707II.
I chose the Talon SS. Lots of reasons. One was the built-in moderator. I shoot a lot in my townhome basement. With the power wheel turned to 2 or 3, I can shoot in my basement all day long. The 490cc tank gets about 300 shots at that setting!!  Then at the range or in the field, I can crank up the power to 6 for 150+ hefty plinking shots with CP's...or up to 9 or so for hunting with Kodiaks.
But those Sumatras are very nice! I came close to buying one.

The Talon is a very nice PCP. What I liked about it mostly was the weight. Think it weighs under 6 lbs with scope. I looked very hard at the Talons, FX Black Widow, Logun Mk II Sporter, Air Arms S400, BSA's, etc.

I wanted something with punch and the only one out of the bunch that that would go over 30 FPE at 900 FPS with a heavy pellet was the Sumatra.. This was in my price range.

There are disadvantages of course. Like weight, and aesthetics.. I have several other springers, and Co2's that fill my other needs. I had not planned on using the Sumatra for target shooting. Only for game hunting. In my own little mind it is the right PCP for what I paid and what I will use it for.. It adds a nice balance to what collection of air guns I have. By the way the Sumatra has 6 power settings but I had only mentioned two in my post..

Yup Gene, your Sumatra is a nice gun for sure. Enjoy it!  I've shot my friend's and they are a blast. The Sumatra was on my list of guns that I was choosing from: Sumatra, Career 707, Career III, and Talon . I love that the Sumatra is has the feel of a Career 707, but with the cylinder clip for various pellet lengths. Sumatras look so nice and feel so nice. And their power wheel can adjust down to a very modest power level also. I'll probably still buy one eventually.
The basic reason I didn't get a Sumatra nor a Career was the pickle issue. I wanted something shrouded so I would not have to use the dreaded threaded pickle. I had to have something I could shoot in the townhome basement quietly at 6fpe and still be able to go out in the field hunting with 25fpe. And if I ever feel the need for more power in the 50fpe range, I can always pop in the 24" barrel on the Talon in 5 minutes.
But alas, I can never play Chuck Conners with a Talon....that takes a Sumatra!

I did not realize when I bought it. The barrel has female threads for a pickle or moderator... Yikeeeesssss.... I was discussing this with a guy yesterday. The threads are metric...  I have not found one yet. lol. But I will keep looking..

Ya it is fun to shoot and maybe I wil get a tank later on depending on how much I use it.. And yes the metal work is great but I do not like the hunting scene on the side.. lol  I would of love it if it came like Chuck Conners rifle.....
