threeguns:
I use Kodiaks, Crosman Premier 10.5, Crosman Premier 7.9, and Crosman Copperheads.
I am fortunate because I get very good accuracy with all of these out to 50 yards and slightly beyond in all of the .177 air rifles in my household except my 7 year old son's Daisy 880, which doesn't do so hot with the heavier pellets.
The Predator pellets with the polymer tip seem promising.
As has been said many times, what matters ultimately isn't what works in my rifles because these things tend to be individuals with regard to dietary preferences.
To illustrate: while the .177 Shadows we've had in the household have been delightfully unfussy and shot a veritible multitude of pellets well (basically anything we tried that DIDN'T say Gamo on the tin, aside from their match pellets -go figure......), my .20 R-9 shoots Beeman FTS and the Haendler and Natermann equaivalent VERY well but is totally unimpressive with just about everything else. Kodiaks? Fugitaboutit!
So it really does depend on the gun.
That said, I tend to stay away from what I personally consider gimmicks like hollow points, pellets made out of stuff other than lead, pellets with BB's in the nose, and so on, and just stick with basic lead domed diabolo pellets such as mentioned in the opening salvo of this post. My .177 R-9 does like those Predators, however, and they DO make a very intersting and somewhat satisfying "pop" on impact, but I haven shot anything tougher than mice around the barn with them yet. I might try them on bunnies tomorrow, so we'll see........
