Threeguns, I would say no..  Every air gun is different. For instance. My CFX .177 loves RWS Superdomes.. Never get a flyer and I get good tight groups. But that does not mean another pellet would not be better. I have not tried them all, but the dozen or so types of pellets that I have tried the RWS Superdomes work great. I have tried CP's Copper Heads, and a bunch of others but the RWS Superdomes work fine for me and I hunt squirrels and shoot paper..

My B26-2 likes CP's or Gamo FT pellets.

Other post I have read with guys with same air guns use different pellets than my air guns and they swear by them....:)

You just have to try em till you get the right pellet for what you want to do.

Gene , for being a baby in the airgun world , you hit the nail on the head.  threeguns asked the same Q onthe hunting forum.
there is no such , best  pellet, each gun shoots pellets differently and the best one is the one you find for that gun.  Crow mags, than use only them,  I have maybe 15 differnet 22  pellets, and one gun may shoot only one of them well, the others , well they may use a different.   I have no two guns that like the same pellets, but I kinda wish they would, it would save on buying so many different ones .

No kidding I almost have to get a two wheeled cart to haul my pellet box around when I go to shoot.  Three different calibers of rifles make for a bunch more pellets.

threeguns:

I use Kodiaks, Crosman Premier 10.5, Crosman Premier 7.9, and Crosman Copperheads.

I am fortunate because I get very good accuracy with all of these out to 50 yards and slightly beyond in all of the .177 air rifles in my household except my 7 year old son's Daisy 880, which doesn't do so hot with the heavier pellets.

The Predator pellets with the polymer tip seem promising.

As has been said many times, what matters ultimately isn't what works in my rifles because these things tend to be individuals with regard to dietary preferences.

To illustrate:  while the .177 Shadows we've had in the household have been delightfully unfussy and shot a veritible multitude of pellets well (basically anything we tried that DIDN'T say Gamo on the tin, aside from their match pellets -go figure......), my .20 R-9 shoots Beeman FTS and the Haendler and Natermann equaivalent VERY well but is totally unimpressive with just about everything else.  Kodiaks?  Fugitaboutit!

So it really does depend on the gun.

That said, I tend to stay away from what I personally consider gimmicks like hollow points, pellets made out of stuff other than lead, pellets with BB's in the nose, and so on, and just stick with basic lead domed diabolo pellets such as mentioned in the opening salvo of this post.  My .177 R-9 does like those Predators, however, and they DO make a very intersting and somewhat satisfying "pop" on impact, but I haven shot anything tougher than mice around the barn with them yet.  I might try them on bunnies tomorrow, so we'll see........

Predator pellets and my 880 sit by the back door for chippys, one in the chamber and all I have is give it a few pumps and good by chippy.

They are pretty good in the 880 out to 20 yards or so. Can't hit any thing with them in any other of my rifles.

Every other rifle I shoot it's FTS's or Crossman's all round nose, crow mags and the other hollow points don't seem to be as accurate..

While there may be no "best" pellet I think you will find that there are certain pellets that come up again and again as "this is what works best in my rifle" -- from here on known as TIWWBIMR.

I repeatedly see people say that cro mags are superior as well as Crosman Premieres.

That being said, while the adage of TIWWBIMR is techincally correct, if you tell someone to try cro mags or premiers, there's a very good chance it will be the best pellet they could choose.

In other words, not all pellets have an equal chance of landing that coveted TIWWBIMR label.

Or that's how it seems to me anyway.
