Can someone tell me why a Weihrauch HW77 is a $100 cheaper than Beeman HW77 MKII?  What is the difference between them?

Beeman marketing and name. Sometimes the Beeman rifles have a bit of checkering that the HWs do not. They are both Weihrauch rifles, built in the same plant, on the same line. Aside from the name on them, they are the same rifle.

Hello Jim,

Welcome to the GTA Forums, It's a GREAT Place to BE !!!

As for the HW-77 and the HW-77 MKII, Stephanie is very correct, Beeman gives checkering and a name to the product, and to some, a little class !

Yep,
However, don't the Beeman branded versions of the Weihrauch rifles sport the acclaimed Rekord trigger?

Yes the Beeman rifles do have the Rekord trigger, and so do the Weihrauch rifles. The only Weihrauch rifle sold without the Rekord trigger is the economy version of the HW30 which has the Perfekt trigger. Weihrauch does sell the several other versions of the HW30 that do have the Rekord trigger in them. All the other Weihrauch rifles have the Rekord trigger.

When you buy a top line Beeman rifle you are buying a Weihrauch (HW) rifle with the Beeman name on it. The best analogy I can offer is Ford/Mercury. If you buy a Mercury, you are buying a Ford with a different brand name and slightly different cosmetics and features. Bear in mind that the Beeman name is a brand name only (no longer owned and operated by the Beemans). Beeman doesnt and never did manufacture a rifle, just imported rifles built by a variety of maunfacturers and put their brand name on them and marketed and sold them in the US.

Fancy checkering is not important to me.  Reliability and accuracy are important.  I think I will buy a Weihrauch.  Thank you for your imput.

Jim,

I don't know if this is the norm, but I just bought a HW 50S and was very disappointed in the wood.  The fit and finish was not as good as what I received when I bought an R7 and a R9 Goldfinger.  The wood was WAY nicer, with good grain and finish on the Beeman stamped products.  Maybe just luck of the draw?  The HW 50S is a nice shooter though, and it is a keeper from that aspect, but the wood is not as nice as any of my other guns included 6 RWS rifles.

Regards,

Jim
