Am i Getting More Power on Bulk ?
« on: November 07, 2007, 01:06:15 AM »
Yes i know - may sound another dumb question from the Brit !!

Finished my kit bulking from a Soda Stream "refillable UK bottle" (used this as Sodastream readily available locally whereas Painball fill-station not found in my area)

As mentioned in other posts when using Powerlets i hit a Squirell @ 80 feet which fell to ground then took off, Similair with a Magpie.

Now bulking i hit another Magpie at same range & it was down to the ground stone dead !

Now i wonder if i'm experiencing more power ? Of course could just be a better/ more effective shot !!

Am i imagining there is more power ? (Dont have Chrono to measure unfortunately)

You're probably not getting very much power from bulking vs. cartriges. Maybe 10-20 more FPS. You're probably getting more consistency from shot to shot.

I've found that with my QB on powerlets, if I fire 5 rounds in succession then the velocity of the 5th shot is quite a bit lower than the first. Let the gun heat up a little and equalize and the whole cycle starts over again.

You do typically get a little fps gain when bulking with remote or tank as due to the increased volume theres less recovery time. Not really good to rapid fire a co2 gun,can freeze the valve o-ring,just my opinion. 8)

Unless I leave the tank attached , I got a little less power . Only 10-15fps . but If I leave the tank attached I gained about 10-15 fps over the carts. . kirby

Having chrono'd my gun both ways I can state that yes the power does up slightly.  With bulk tank fitted I get 11.6ft/lbs and 11.4ft/lbs without it attached when shooting.  As has been said, the power output is also more consistent.
