Cheek pad's for the plastic
« on: November 14, 2007, 12:31:39 PM »
My good friend Gene and I were talking awhile back and I was telling him of the padding that I found. The cheekrest for my TAC 1 was a cold faceless area which needed some comfort . I hit the hobby store knowing what I needed and picked up some black and gray craft foam. I drew out several design's to flow with the stock and grip and cut em out. Applied a small bead of super glue "doesn't melt the foam" around the pad and set it in place and pressed it out. The end result was just what I was looking for and comfy too. Ed

My local craft store  has the sticky back , peel and stick foam. I've bought black and green ; so I know it comes in those colors . I've used it for a cheek piece pad and as a extra-grip panel on the grip areas (works good on a pistol grip too) . Not permanent, but holds up pretty good and cheap to replace.  Speaking of craft foam ; get the thick sheets and cut out a small rectangle , say 2"x3" and drill small holes in them just big enough for a pellet to be force into .I use my dremel tool with a bit that I've found to be the perfect size.  I  drill a couple of holes in one end and run a piece of cord through it , enough to hang the pellet holder around my neck . Cheap pellet holders . You can also add some sticky back Velcro to them and add them to your gun stock , although  my last time out , mine  caught on something and pulled off somewhere in the woods. My original use for craft foam was/is for making foam bugs for fly fishing for warm water panfish.  Lots of uses for craft foam .kirby

I've had no problem's with peel off and it mold's to the stock great. I've also used small section's to fill in the channel's inside several of my synthetic stock's, vibration dampner. Ed
