Georgia State Match Today at Airgunning Atlanta
« on: December 16, 2007, 03:09:01 PM »
We had our state match today on the coldest, windiest day we've had on match day since February . Wind gust at 35mph+ . Made for a challenging day of shooting. The top honors in PCP class went to Kevin Allen who shot a 54 out of 56 possible using a USFT . Top honors in spring piston class went to a guy named Kirby, who shot a 39 out of 56 possible using his TX200HC 12fpe rifle.( so I guess that makes me State Champion. hehe) We started off the morning, cloudy with a few snow flurries flying around , then ended up with partly cloudy skies and sun . A great time was had by all of the 8 shooters we had attending. After the match we went to a local golf course clubhouse and had lunch. kirby

A Big Congratulations David...:) Now we have an honest to goodness celebrity on the GTA...:) That is some great shooting with the wind like that. What a challenge. It was windy here as well today but not so bad in the back of the house. Just a bit gusty at times. And you won withyour TX200HC.. WOW what a springer.. Do you have any pictures to share..:) I hope those guys treated you to a drink after winning the State Springer Championship. Gene

Sorry I missed it Kirby!  But that wind was cutting cold over here, figured it would be even worse up the I'state in Covington...

Definitely sounds like I missed a good contest......

I have to tell the rest of the story on my win at the State match . I was the only spring piston shooter there. But; my score was pretty good and worthy of the title as this was my best score so far in shooting F/T . In October's match I shot a 14/44 ; followed up in November with a 25/52 ; and now a 39/54 and I did tie one of the pcp shooter and beat one of them shooting a new Air Arms EV2 and I wasn't far behind several of the other pcp shooters .So those PCP guys better watch out , hehe just kidding but I am getting better and that's what counts. As soon as pictures and a full report is posted on the Airgunnig Atlanta's club's web sight , I'll post a link or copy and paste . kirby

I'm i the Brown Carhartt jacke and black beanie with the USFT, I got 4th (46-56).  I started off beating the eventual winner but it all went dowhill after the first 20 shots.  Shooting in the wind with a pellet gun is pretty fun, I liked the extra challenge, I too shot my best score and felt good to be up there with the big boys.
