I don’t hunt anymore; however, I sure do love those hunting stories.  Keep-m-coming.

Hey Gene,,,,,, years ago I used to have a pet chihuahua.  She was a tiny little dog, about the size of a large squirrel.   Whenever we went on vacation up to our Catskill mountain summer home we'd have to really keep an eye on the little pooch when she was outside,,,,,,  more than a few times when she was running around on the lawn we see the hawks circling above her.  Got to a point we'd always keep her within arm reach when we were outside.......  She was a good dog,,, I still miss her after all these years .

Hi all, today while passing inside my kitchen window I saw the red tailed hawk in up swept flight. It large size could not be missed in the woods. The movement was from ground level upward to a pine limb 27 ft high. A little more unusual was that it was carrying a 1" wide x 12" long strip of what looked like "grey haired bacon" in his talons. (julieene squirrel) The hawk perched and the strip of meat almost wrapped the limb in a pendelum motion. He stood there only 40 seconds and launch off to another spot outside of my view with the meal. I'll keep my camera and zoom lens handy because an image of a hawk with prey could make a hunt story live on. Oh and I'll assist my buddy the hawk in setting up the photoshoot with another meal. More to come soon!
