Big Ed's Web Site is up
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:53:49 AM »
Big Ed has his web site up. There has been a lot of interest in his services for the BAM B50/51. I have no interest in his business, nor have I had any dealings with him personally, but I have read a lot of good reviews on his work.

Link to his site:

Gene, we probably should have this link in the Mall, and or Library.

Thanks Peak, I have sent Big Ed an email concerning exchanging links..:) As soon as he sends me the ok, I will add him to the GTA Mall. I really do not have any interests in a BIG Magnum PCP, but I am sure there are many who have fallen into the Dark Side that will find his web site very helpful... Now entering the Twilight Zone....:)

I like the dark side. I like supermegamondomagnum springers and PCPs. I like my CO2s. I like my little B3 low powered springers. I like everything airgun related. I guess that's why I spend so much time on this forum. Plus I like the people on this forum. Now, If I can get 40 or so ft lbs out of my B50, I'll be thrilled. Then I can get back to collecting more airguns than I could possibly wear out in a lifetime.

You could get 40fpe from a B50 I would think, but your shot count would suck and your fps spread would look like a ski slope instead of a bell curve.  Not such a bad idea if you plan to hunt with it and only need 6 or so full power shots.  Might also think about having it converted to .25 for that kind of fpe.  IIRC my .22 Talon was at about 44fpe shooting Kodiaks at about 980fps.  I detuned it a little to about 40fpe and got a better shot count and better extreme spread/curve.  If you really want some power out of the box, well then, the Sumatra is calling you.  Even the carbine version is pulling 40+fpe and the long version shoots somewhere around 50+fpe!

Dano, are you talking about 40 fpe out of the B50 with Crosman pellets or with Eun Jin pellets?
I'm getting 867 fps with CPHPs, about how fast would you reckon the 28.6 gr Eun Jins are running?
I can't chrono them right now, my chrony is shot.(I WISH I were kidding)
I'd like to be able to run between 850 and 1000 fps with Eun Jins.
I considered converting to .25 or .30 cal, but Georgia's hunting regs only allow .22 cal or smaller air guns to be used. I think it's stupid. It should be .177 or larger. I can kill squirrels DRT (dead right there) with a .177, and do it on a regular basis, but the .22 definitely does the job better. A .25 or .30 would be amazing. I'd like to rebarrel one of my springers to .40 cal smoothbore for shooting blowgun darts. I've killed rats and squirrrels with broadhead blowgun darts and they work fine. They'd be amazing with some serious velocity.
Maybe buy another B50 or build a QB78 PCP and rebarrel it to .40 caliber dart. Use my 8 shot blowmatic cylinder to make it a repeater.

I don't know for sure, but I would think that you could open up the transfer port and clean up the valve porting enough to get a pretty high fpe out of a Kodiak.  mid 900's with a Kodiak doesn't sound unreasonable, but then BigEd could probably tell you for sure.

That soundsgreat to me. mid 900s with a kodiak would be better than I expected. Even 800 with EunJins would make me very happy. Now to get busy making a swaging die so I can make my own 30 grain .22cal hollowpoint pellets.
