Signing on with some QB customs *pics*
« on: January 20, 2008, 01:51:38 PM »
Guys, I must apologize for not frequenting your forum as much as I should.  Been lurking a couple days now and like what I see.

Figured I'd make a post of some custom QB's that I got.  All the stocks were finished by me using Tung Oil. I tried RLO and didnt like how they turned out, tried polyurethane and didnt like them, finally tried Tung Oil.  I love RLO for Walnut, just not on Laminates

Top one isnt a QB, but it's in the pic anyway, sorry... Top is an HW30AW wearing a Steve C laminate DIY stock in Royal Jacaranda.

Next is a Joe Bontranger QB PCP in .22 with a Richards Tack Driver series in Black Pepper Laminate

Bottom is a Jack Haley QB PCP in .177 with a Richards Tack Driver series in Royal Camo Laminate..

Enjoy!  I promise I'll get off my duff and post here more often...

Those are some beautiful guns that you have. One day, I should be so lucky to own something close to one of those.

All a work of art. Do they shoot as good as they look?

Thank you, sir.   I'd say they shoot pretty well. The HW30AW is amazingly accurate. The QB in .22 is as well, but fairly pellet picky for a PCP. The .177 one does well, but I wouldnt call it a true tack driver.

Rob,

it's good to see you over here on our little forum.  I've seen pics of your guns on the Talon forum(s) and you definately have a nice collection.  That R7 is a pretty stock, I was up visiting with Steve last weekend and saw the one he has on his homepage right now.  They feel as good as they look.  Steve is a real artist, but his artistry has good function also.  I also shot a QB with a Richards Microfit stock like yours a couple months ago, those are real nice too.  The stuff these guys come up with make me want to hide the Talon pistol stocks I make from public view!  Anyways, glad to see you showing off your babies here....keep 'em coming!

Not including the stock, how much does it cost to convert a QB78 to PCP?

Thank you, sir... I've seen several familiar faces around here. Nice to have another forum to peruse around in!

Yes, Steve certainly does do good work. The stock on that 30 just improves handling so much.  Seems to be a nice balance of form and function

I've seen tubes for conversions go for around $125. These are ready to bolt on to a QB...   PCP conversion QB's go for around $200-$250. Just gotta watch for them as they tend to go quickly.

You're dead on with Steve's stocks improving handling . I have a walnut one on my R7 and would love to dress both of my HW30's in one. It makes the rifle feel like a totally different gun. Maybe sometime this year . After I get my Double Gold R7 that is. LOL kirby

I like those stocks a lot. I wonder if he has left handed thumbhole stocks?
BTW your HW and QBs are sweet.
