The Supersport is still going strong.

Wow, it 's been a long time since I've been on this forum.... work, etc.

The BSA has received a lot of TCL, and is performing great.
Unbelievably quiet, no spring twang or vibration and almost no recoil at all.

Crows are such a problem here at the moment. We haven't been hunting them for a few months, and things got totally out of hand. This one just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. We saw a flock of about 100 the other day. They take out pigeons, owls, falcons, chickens, dogs, cats, and even chase bigger farm animals around. Well, we'll put a stop to that soon.

Anyway, the pic is not the best quality, but look at the size of that crow, and this one is only about average size. Some of them are huge.

This was taken after a 30 minute hunt after work. It took about 10min to get the first one. But once there was a decoy, the rest dropped like flies. They all ended up in a nice pigeon pie.

Nice show Jacques..:) Those BSA's keep calling my name and one day I will own one..:) PeakChick has a beautiful one that I really am in love with..:) I said the BSA not the Peak... hehe.... I think the quality of the BSA is outstanding. What I see and read tells me the Carbine would be a fantastic shooter. Gene

GR8 Shooting Jaques. Did you shoot the crow in"Kraaifontein" (CROWFONTEIN for the peeps that do not speak our native tongue!!) Hope you enjoyed your pigeon pie. For those that dont know, Jaques is one of our Local Airriflesuppliers in South Africa.

I also leave the first pigeon on the ground as a decoy. They just cant seem to resist a Pigeon on the ground. It acts like a magnet. Tried it a lot and it works everytime if others are around.

Ps: youve got pm on airrifle.co.za

I recently bought a FAC Lighting XL Tactical. I've always wanted one and was in 7th heaven when I finally managed to get one. Great looking rifle, but what piece of crap. I couldn't shoot any decent groupings with it and it was a scope killer. It killed a Nikko Sterling Airking and a BSA AR scope the first day I tested it. None of the scopes lasted more than 50 shots. Eventually we put an Oryx scope on that seemed to last. A friend of mine who is a trained sniper and shoot really well, could only manage 8cm groupings at 15m. I mean, the guy can shoot... he got a  6mm CTC grouping  with a .20 HW97K at 30m and a 12mm grouping at 50m.

I send the rifle back to BSA for testing. They insisted that there was nothing wrong with the rifle. According to them that is the best accuracy we could expect from the BSA in FAC power.
That is just not acceptable and I insisted that they replace the rifle with another one. They did, and that one was even worse.
I eventually convinced them to pay the money back, and spent it on new seals for the Supersport and a second hand .22 HW77.

I did a bit of work on the Supersport and am now convinced that it is better than any of the new  BSA's. As far as I'm concerned, BSA rifles are not designed to shoot higher that 12 ft/lbs, and that the Supersport is still the best of all the BSA models.

Friend of mine got another one yesterday with his QB36-2. Almost same size...
Anyway, the crows we get here are BIG and aggressive. They kill falcons, owl, and anything that comes into their territory. We've even been asked by a lady who lives down the street to shoot 2 crows that attacked her cats and dog. One cat lost an ear in the process.  They have a place just about 2 km from my house where they have pigeon races. I could never get my head around     people paying R15000 for a pigeon, but I guess some people just have money to burn.
Anyway, they had this big competition with people attending from all over the world.
When they opened those cages to release  the  birds, all hell broke loose. Hundreds of crows were taking pigeons out in mid air. At the end of the day damages were estimated at about R1,2m ! Next day we got a call to start hunting crows there.

Next time we get a big one, I'll  put some more rifles next to it,so you can see the size of these buggers.

Jacques, about 2 months ago, I went out the back door here at work, and in the tops of the trees in the patch of woods across the parking lot, there must have been 200 or more crows flying in and out, roosting, and cawing to beat the band. I'd seen starlings and grackles in much greater numbers back there many times in the past as the big flocks move through, but I'd never seen so many crows. At that point I wished for two things; one was a camera so I could take pictures, and the second was my B26-2 which was lounging around at home doing nuthin', so that I could take out at least a couple. They didn't seem to care one way or another that I was standing there 30-40 yards away in plain sight watching. They stayed around in the trees for 10 or 15 minutes, and eventually 1 or two started to fly off to the west, and others started following them until all of them were gone in about 5 minutes. The silence was almost as deafening as the crows.

And that's the story of the biggest murder of crows I've ever seen in one place.

Bryan

PS- your crows are bigger than ours.
