with the cocking effort rated to almost 65 lbs in both the hunter extreme .22, and whisper .22 how come these guns are not putting out higher velocity numbers? they are saying 850 fps with almost 65 lbs of cocking effort? i would think that with that much power you would get more velocity from the gun.it would be nice to have a break barrell .22 air rifle to shoot a 14.0 grain pellet constantly atleast 1000 fps., and also be very accurate. i am not all about velocity but it would be nice to have a  break barrel that can generate that power and velocity constinly without losing accuracy.

SISSYS!       I just finished my homemade springer. I used the springs off a 1984 ford crown vic. for the powerplant. LOL! I wish, wouldnt that be a cannon. Would be funny when your hunting buddies asked you what were you using deer season. "air rifle" HEHEHEHE!
My guns arent the only thing full of hot air!

Just a prediction guys, when the Extreme .22 hits the shelves it probably will feel just like the Extreme .177  when you cock it. You know how Gamo likes to embellish #'s.But I wouldn't be surprised if this Extreme.22 flirts with 30 ft.lbs at the muzzle.Heck my Extreme.177 will shoot lubed CP 10.5 gr to 25ft.lbs so the .22 will be a step up in the power level for sure.Just imagine a new Extreme .22 with a GRT111 trigger.I might have to get me one.

I have not read or seen the ad on Gamo's web site but I will go look... The earlier version of the Extreme was of course the Gamo Royal Hurricane .22 and it had a cocking effort around 55 lbs. It would spit 14 grain lead out up to the mid 900's. It seems kinda strange that Gamo would produce almost the same air rifle with a higher cocking rate.. I know from personal experience that the Hurricane was a fantastic hunter, and not for paper.. Reason being is obvious with that high of a cocking effort the normal man could not just keep cocking and firing all day long.. :D  I finally sold my Hurricane to Ed aka Shadow who is using it for it's purpose, (Hunting). For sure these kind of shooters are strictly hunters and not plinkers. :D  :D

maybe if gamo can get the charlie the tuna to do the turbo tune you can make that 62 lb cocking effort feel like 30 lbs ......sweet.i can not imagine what the energy this gun is going to have with a cocking effort of almost 65 lbs . can you picture this you buy the gun you take it out to shoot it for the first time and before you shoot the air rifle you double check your screws to make sure they are tight . you shoot the gun and the lenses of the scope falls  off from to much recoil ............he he he.. that would only happen to me
