I might be falling to the PCP dark side.
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:33:20 AM »
At the most recent SC shoot out I got to shot Genes FX. It was really nice. I liked it a LOT. I decided to get a PCP for myself. I have always wanted the Talon SS but when I first started getting into airguns I could not justify spending $500 on a gun that I still needed a pump and scope and other stuff for. I totaled it up and it came out to about $1200 ready to shot. Well since then I added up what I have in some of the other guns and I decided it is not really that much. SSSOOOO...after talking to the wife (the one in charge of spending) we have agreed that I can get the talon SS and all the 'needed' stuff as soon as I complete a makeover on the master bathroom, and sell one of our cars (4 cars is really too many for only 2 people, she says).

One of the things I like most about the talon and all the airforce guns is the customizablity (sp) of the guns. I love to change stuff.

Welcome to the darkside Martin, and congratualtions on your decision. I'm sure you'll enjoy your Talon once you get it . The Talons are a fun and accurate rifle . I have a friend of mine thinking of getting one also. The SS is my favorite model. kirby

Congrats Martin. If I were you I would not get a pump, just get a tank, you can find them used cheeper than a pump, new about the same $$. 4 cars sell 2 and give the wife the cash from one of them and tell her, this is how much you can spend on the bathroom. The proceeds from the other one is airgun money, hehe.

Martin, I also have those memories of shooting Gene’s FX and can’t seem to get them out of my mind.  I am discovering that the lure of the dark side is very powerful and I too may have to cross over in the near future.  What's more, the ever creeping arthritis and bursitis is making shooting springers a painful event.  A good excuse as any, eh?

Hi Martin,,

I just recently got a Talon .22 w/18 inch barrel,,,, all I can say is OMG,,,, the rifle is fabulous. I still love my springers but the Talon is fast becoming my favorite hunting rifle.

Matter of fact I'm thinking about getting a second Talon,,, this time the SS model, in .177 for my starling and bird hunting......

I went with the scuba tank option at first,,, but I wound up getting a pump as a backup..

Hey Martin, I was wondering when you were gonna bite..:) I can still see the look on your face after shooting my FX and you turned and said that is very nice..:) Sorry I did not have any more air for the FX but now I have plenty so if you need to come over and feed your Dark Side pallet then just give me a call and we can take care of that for you..:) The Talon is a great shooter and you have the option I think to go Co2 and HPA with them. May be right up your alley..:)

Best of luck Martin and I know you will not regret purchasing a PCP....:)

Well Tom, you could say I am ac dc...:) I love em both. I have refined my springers to what I really love to shoot most, and have learned from my springer buying experiences enough now to be carefull of what I purchase in a PCP..:) I love my $150.00 TF-89 and also my $900.00 PCP's. It is really not about price any more for me, but what I like to shoot best..:) But I will be slipping in and out of the Dark Side now for ever..:)

Mike's right, you're gonna love it, I love mine so much I got a second one :-)!  And those 2 are my ONLY air rifles.  So what caliber did you get?  What scope are you putting on it?  Got plenty of Kodiaks on hand?  Details, man :-)!  Later.

I got a .177. I only target shot so I did not see the need for .22 and all my other guns are .177

I have a center point 4-16X44 that I will put on it to start with. I will get a sidewheel scope of some kind as soon as I decide on one. my CFX has a Nikko S. 6-24X56 that I love. I will get something similar for my talon SS in a while.

I have a lot of FTS and SuperDome pellets that my other guns all love so I was going to try those first. I only have a dozen or so kodiaks left.

Does anyone have thoughts or experience with the micro meter tank?
