The liberal "thoght police" have taught the masses well.
« Reply #32 on: May 31, 2008, 03:25:20 PM »
I'm sure that is the reason I did so poorly in school.
`
Example:
What was the civil war about?
The truth is the NC congress covened with representitives from several 'farm' statesto write a letterof secession becausea major issueloomed larger than any other for three decades: the Northern tariff. Imposed to benefit Northern industrial interest subsidizing production through public works, the effectforced the South to pay more for manufactured goodswith disproportionate taxes to support central government and injured the South’s trade relations with the world.
`
The Southbeing looted to paythe North’s industrial policy caused abattle over this tariff in 1828, with the "tariff of abomination." Thirty yearsof the South paying 87 percent federal tariffthreatened livelihood by protectionist legislation, so itbecame impossible togovern regions under the same regime.
`
Textbook answer? Racism
Does that notmake one wonder? It sure does bother me . . . because, this is reallythe truth that NWO fears, and suppresses. It is always about control of the sheeple, and any excuse or tacticto usurprights of the free are applied.

My brother's tours and mine spanned 5 years - 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970, in Vietnam. Forty odd years later we still have nightmares over our roles in a war that hindsight has shown to have been an unnecessary and unjust. Back then there were some with the opinion that others who disagreed with that war were UNAmerican and it was as untrue then as it is now.

When our founding fathers were writing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights let us recall they had a principle in mind as was stated by Voltaire to Helvetius: I disagree with what you say, but shall defend to the death your right to say it.

Two brothers were looking at the same old chestnut tree. One brother was looking at the light sunny South side while the other was looking at the dark mossy North side. Each brother had his own different belief of what he was seeing, based on his own true view of that same tree. Even though they disagreed with what the other thought that tree looked like, they were both right. I don't think that argument ever ended. It's all a matter of perspective.

I'll be the first to oppose any form of censorship (except where children may be involved) but I do have one request and that is that no matter what our personal opinions and principles are, lets respect the other persons right to express them. I would also like to add that it hurts me deeply when my fellow citizens and airgun hobby friends begin to trade personal barbs, for those are not the reasons I did my duty as a soldier.

Thank You All, and I thank you for your participation in this lively discussion as we all may learn from it as is necessary to maintain a strong republic.

I don't wear a flag pin either, does that make me un-American? I am surprised that this is even an issue, why WOULD he decide to wear a flag pin? As a "Hey look! Me too! I must be patriotic 'cause I'm wearing this pin!". And, to be perfectly honest, we've been dealing with years of fascists running Congress, men who've stripped the rights our forefathers fought and died for. THAT is unpatriotic. The wearing of those flag pins in Congress DISGUSTS me because so many of the jerks wearing them are putting on a facade of patriotism while they dismantle the freedoms that are supposed to be guaranteed in the Constitution. THESE MEN ARE HIDING BEHIND THE FLAG WHILE THEY DESTROY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS. A LITTLE FLAG PIN DOES NOT MAKE THAT OK. As far as my own personal patriotism and that of my family, my father had health problems 'til the day he died (of service connected causes) because of his exposure to Agent Orange. One of my uncles died in Viet-Nam. I myself tried to join the military and couldn't because of physical injuries I suffered (ironically, while excersizing to get into shape to join up, a car ran a stop sign and flattened me and my little 10-speed). To suggest that I'm unpatriotic or that liberals and democrats are trying to destroy the country when 8 years of Republican misrule has undone years of progress and economic prosperity is just...well...utterly illogical. And the saying that hate mongering and half-truths are something you leave up to the "Liberal Democrats" absolutely makes no sense at all. Liberal by definition implies tolerance and open mindedness. The current Democratic party is MORE fiscally responsible and conservative in government than the current Republicans.

And why is religion a factor in a country that's supposed to have freedom of religion? Accusing Obama of being a Muslim (like many have been doing) shouldn't even matter, in a free country that actually has religious freedom. He isn't one of course, he's always been Christian. Not that I'm slamming Christians, but how many hate crimes and acts of terrorism have people claiming to be Christians perpetrated? And by the way, how is it NOT racist to hate a person because his middle name is traditionally Muslim? That has been used as a weapon against the guy since he announced his candidacy. Hussein is one of the most common names among Islamic countries...do you hate people named David because they have a traditionally Jewish name? Do you hate people named Jesus because a lot of Latinos have that name? Why is this guy's middle name or how his name sounds even an ISSUE?

The Constitution is supposed to limit what our government can do, not be discarded at will as inconvenient. Doesn't it trouble you or anyone else that the government would even WANT to avoid due process that the Constitution guarantees EVERYONE? And remember, the Constitution does not exclude everyone who isn't a citizen, it applies to EVERYONE. This country would not exist if not for people who questioned authority, that held their government accountable, and when it was found to be lacking, they had this little thing called a revolution.

And as far as Che Guevara, he's known as a hero in many parts of the world. What put him on the US "hate list" was his fight against Batista. Keep in mind that Batista was friendly with US organized crime and had no respect for the freedoms that patriotic US citizens are accustomed to. Unfortunately that particular brutal dictator supported US corporate interests, otherwise Guevara might be hailed as a hero here also. Batista was as brutal a dictator as any other. It's kind of ironic when you think about it, Saddam Hussein also supported US interests and received support from our government...for a while. While it can be argued that he was a terrorist, it can also be argued that he was a hero who loved freedom and was willing to fight and die for it. The same could be said about our own founding fathers. Which version you believe is up to you. It's obvious that his picture in Obama's office is the one that has been used as a symbol of freedom, not terrorism or oppression.

By the way, am I a brainless hate mongering "Liberal Democrat" because I open other books in addition to my bible? Or is it because I read the Constitution and believe in freedom, including the freedom to disagree with government decisions? Is it because I want to see us out of Iraq and committing more resources to going after the real terrorists and those that support them? Or am I supposed to shut up and be a "good little citizen" while people are rounded up to the gas chambers...I mean "detention centers"? I'm sure you'd be happy to see me locked up there too. Oh yeah, I haven't stated which party I am registered with, assuming I'm a Democrat is just an assumption. And yes, I'm Liberal in as far as I'm willing to hear other ideas, and think about other options. It's fundamentalist conservatives who blew up the World Trade Center after all. Jesus was a Liberal in every sense of the word who believed in peace, social responsibility, and was against greed, murder, and violence. Given that, I don't see how you can use Liberal as an insult. Every time you say it I just hear "you're more like Jesus than I am".

Liberalism is the antithesis of "thought police"
« Reply #35 on: May 31, 2008, 09:50:10 PM »

I think you're using the word wrong. Liberalism refers to a belief system that supports individual freedom and liberty. How could this concept support any kind of "thought police"? Or do you mean to use liberal to refer to broad mindedness of thought? Again, that's pretty much antithetical to any kind of thought police.

Never forget that Jesus was a Liberal who was murdered by fundamentalist conservatives with the cooperation of a repressive government afraid of social change. The thing about liberals, and what may be considered a huge weakness, is that liberals don't believe in forcing others to think as they do. One of the things that the terrorists hate about our country is the freedoms that we have, so by taking away those freedoms in the name of "security" our government has been giving them exactly what they want.

All:

Have been watching this tread for several days and have tried hard not to respond.  There are perhaps thousands of blogs and web sites where politics, race, religion, New World Order, socialism, etc. etc. are debated ad nauseam.  I avoid them.  I hope this forum doesn't become another.  I strongly suspect that all of this content of this thread hasn't changed one opinion of any contributor, except, perhaps their personal opinion about the other posters.  But for what it is worth, I will weigh in.

Where personal liberty and freedom are concerned, I live in the greatest country on earth.  It is my responsibility and every American's responsibility to keep it that way and to never forget those before us who have given their lives to do so.  IMO, it is the Supreme Court of the USA and the justices appointed for life that have more ultimate control over us than any President.  The framers of the Constitution knew what they were doing, and liberal judges who see a "living document" that can be twisted into a pretzel, with "penumbras" and "due process" and the like, most threaten the American way of life.  Appointing judges who interpret the existing laws and who respect the Constitution rather than judges who press political agendas and "legislate from the bench"  by declaring "unconstitutional" the law and will of the American people will destroy our country more surely than any one President, competent or incompetent.  A president has 8 years to succeed or fail.  A Supreme Court decision (for example, about gun control and the 2nd Amendment, tend to be forever in a political sense.  And then,  it is beyond the power of the American voters to do anything about it.  Think very hard about the Presidency in terms of court appointments, because there, more than anywhere else, we get the gif that keeps on giving.

There have been and will continue to be wars.  Anyone who thinks otherwise has no grasp of history.  Wars are bad.  People die.  But at least in the current war, I know why it started and know what we are trying to accomplish.  America was attacked by terrorists.  Thousands of innocent people died.  The attack wasn't a single event, but an on-going escalation of increasingly violent attacks by terrorists with political and "religious" agendas.  We will not change this by talking with them.  If history teaches anything, it is something like "Peace through superior firepower".  God bless or military and the job they do and for what they sacrifice to preserve for all of us.

In my limited experience of 55 years, the best President (by far, without even a close second):  Ronald Regan.  God bless him.  The worst (by far without even a close second): Jimmy Carter.  God bless him too.  Think the economy is bad now?  Well, I financed my first home on an 18.5% 1-year balloon note and was lucky to get that.  We had the misery index, double digit inflation, lines a mile long to get gas, the worst recession this country has seen in my lifetime, a top marginal income tax rate over 80% and American soldiers and civilians held hostage for over a year by "militant Iranian students".  No thanks, don't want to go back there ever again.

There is only one God.  He loves us all, and He has no political agenda.

And when you feel the need to post a controversial, divisive, scolding or accusatory comment about something or someone else's opinion, ask yourself what you are really accomplishing by doing so.  Then repeat this mantra:

Air gunzzzzzz, air gunzzzzzz, air gunzzzzzzz  -- you will feel better.

God bless you all.

As I wrote, only the text book version is acceptable and because my research includedcorrect information ~ that makes me wrong.

I have also watched this thread for a couple days and of course have MY opinions and views, but have resisted making any comments to prove MY points.  The cool thing about this country is that I can have my beliefs, you can have your beliefs, he/she can have their beliefs.  Whether the backroom of an airgun forum is the best place to discuss those beliefs I don't know, but I DO know one thing, being able to have this discussion at all isn't something to take lightly, many folks have given their lives to protect that freedom and I think a peaceful discussion such as this is a salute to those people.

As far as my opinions and views in this discussion go, I feel I am pretty well rounded.  I grew up in a city just south of San Francisco, the "Mecca of Gun Control".  I grew up very liberal, with Democratic views.  That didn't stop me from joining our military at 18 travelling abroad to protect our freedoms.  I have lived all over and met and befriended people from many walks of life....we aren't all that different, we all want good things for our kids, we all want to live well, love our country, have a house, 2.5 kids, 1 dog, and a beautiful wife.  I may be somewhat liberal, but I support our right to bear arms, freedom of religion, freedom of speach, etc.......  I think somewhere in the whole evolution of things many people have lost the point and turned this into an "us against them" sort of thing....This whole NWO thing...anyone ever hear of "divide and conquer"?  If I was the Big Cahoona and wanted to control my people the first thing I would do is point out all of the differences between them.  Make it an "us against them" sort of thing so there is no chance of them teaming up and questioning who should be questioned...the Government themselves.  So long as everyone agrees that our differences are bigger than our similarities "They" have won.  Imagine what would have happened if while George Washington was crossing the Potomac his shipmates began fighting with themselves....I bet we'd still be paying a heckuva high tax on tea....  "You need to row the boat", "The oars are dangerous though","I don't want you to row anyways because you have wooden teeth","Well at least I HAVE teeth!!!"...................nuff said.

I would certainlyprefer to divide and conquer the FR and NWO, so if anybody has suggestions ~ that'd be great.
`
That said, those that defend or have defendedthe constitution are the greatest, thus always have my utmost respect and admiration. There are many that posthere that gave their time over to protect our freedom, whichis exactly why theNWO undermining the constitution is so absolutely appalling to me.

Sir Nomad, nothing against you but what you said in an earlier post about George Bush being bad for U.S. troops. You couldn't be anymore wrong about this. I have talked to my cousin many times who is a marine that has already served a tour in Iraq and he said George Bush treats the troops right. As far as the republican's party rule of the white house he thinks it should stay. He said that Hillary and Obama would just be worse for the war and that a large majority of troops like McCain. My cousin is a registered democrat by the way. Also if you don't see something wrong with or question the fact that Obama has been listening to the racial BS that has come out of his rev's mouth for how ever many years than there is something wrong with you. Plus in my opinion there is always something screwed up with politicians today.

Whose 'human race' is it?
« Reply #42 on: June 02, 2008, 03:58:22 PM »
In Obama's own words.......
`
This guy wants to bePresident and controlgovernment. Below are a few lines from Obama's books, his words:
`
From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise mymother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I beganto suspect that by doing so I was ingratiatingmyself to whites."
`
From Dreams of My Father: "There was somethingabout him that made me wary, a little too sure ofhimself, maybe. And white."
`
From Dreams of My Father: "It remained necessary toprove which s ide you were on, to show your loyaltyto the black masses, to strike out and name names."
`
From Dreams of My Father: "I never emulate whitemen and brown men whose fates didn't speak to myown. It was into my father's image, the black man,son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes Isought in myself, the attributes of Martin andMalcolm, DuBois and Mandela."
`
From Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with theMuslims should the political winds shift in an uglydirection."
`
`
Somehow, even the spin snopes puts on this, doesn't ease my mind.
I keep having visions of cattle cars and arguements over the price of a bullet.
Of course, it can't happen here,can it? {Waco, Tx ~ Ruby Ridge}
Naw, it could never happen here . . .
