440's First Nutter

I spent the weekend trying to break my new 440 in and working on a temporary brake for her since it was shooting erratically without the front sight assembly on. I sighted her in as best I could and put her back up on the rack. This morning I was gazing out the back door contemplating on if I should refill the bird feeder when I spotted this fella eyeing the feeder from a short distance. I pulled the 440, loaded a CPHP and got in the prone inside the house (25 yards) with the back door slightly ajar (didn't want to alert the neighbors).

I guess he heard the door and just sat there with one eye in my direction; I placed the crosshairs as best I could and squeezed. At first I thought I missed because he kinda turned in the direction I was aiming at and just sat there as if he heard something. Then after about 5 seconds, he just plopped over; no movement or anything. He literally just keeled over. Upon inspection I found my shot was a little off to the right, and there was a clean exit right below his left armpit.

Congratulations Jay.Looks like you hit him at the top of the right shoulder  and thru the boiler room. Nice shootin'  and that gold trigger sure makes that rifle stand out.

Yep, I figured that much after examination since there was really no blood or anything and he just keeled right over without any protest.  This 440's stock trigger was actually not half bad and possibly the best stock gamo trigger I've dealt with; it was light and very predictable, but not even close to the gold trigger.  The temporary brake is helping with accuracy a lot, but it's a pvc/dremel hack job nevertheless.  That'll change once Gene is all better and caught up.

That is a great looking 440. that muzzle break looks pretty good to me.
