This is a stock from my good Buddy,  John in Pa,s Webley that was cracked by an accidental "barrel slap". Now I know I have taken forever on this repair, but, in my own defence, he had already purchaced a new replacement stock, so ,there was no need to rush!LOL!! It came out pretty nice, if you compare the first & last pics.,, you will see that the crack is pretty much not visable anymore!! John in PA is a Buddy of mine from the "Diana Werks Collective" forum. He is the one that tuned my beloved "Chopper" RWS Diana 350 Magnum. Now,, for fixing his stock,, I will get him to join the GTA Family!!  Tim.

Tim, you can't rush quality. I for one can understand. That's a repair job to be proud of, no matter what the time was, just wish others felt the same.

What adhesive/glue/epoxy? did you use on the crack? Also, did you put in a long wood screw in from rear of the spring tube inletting down into the pistol grip?

Very Very nice love the high shine deep look of the varnish I could probely get you in a boat yd. doing varnish work don't worry about it taking long the yard gets more for the work that way thay pay you 10 and get 60 for you ,lol  ha ha howie In Fl. that used to have what was called the Sunshine Tax it was just low pay , But you could work in the sunshine state.And if you were lucky maybe you could go to the beach some days if it was raining to hard to work. howie

Doesn't that nice smooth high varnish stock feel good when you put your cheek up against it as you sight down the barrel, great repair can't see the break anymore , I'll bet it's stronger than when it was new, One thing all stocks have a weakness at the pistol grip due to the short grain their ,I realy don't know any way except to put a dowel in from the action to the pistol grip under the pistol grip cap, or make the stock up laminated. howie

Nice repair and refinish. When I made my B40 stock into an ambidextrous stock (I'm a lefty), I drilled my stock from the rear of the tube area down into the the wrist and installed a LONG #12 brass wood screw. I then ground down a small part of the head, for clearance, and filled over it with epoxy putty. I then gave the whole stock a spray on bedliner finish. I prefer oil, but this stock had bad spots which necessitated filling with epoxy putty, and precluded an oil finish.
In case you want to know, you can get these long brass screws at Lowe's. I forget the length. 3 or 4 inches iirc. Solid brass, not brass plated. My stock was not cracked, but would have been in danger of doing so, due to the direction of the grain. Your stock had the same problem. The different layers of grain run from top to bottom, instead of side to side, leaving the wrist weak.
The long brass screws come 2 to a bag and are not expensive. Make sure you pilot drill the hole first, to prevent splitting. Also makes it much easier to install the screw. If you don't pilot drill the hole to screw shank diameter, It has a tendency for the head to strip out while you're trying to drive it in.

BTW, I can tell you exactly what happened to that crack. You made it disappear with a repair stronger than the wood itself.
