The mighty cfx has arrived
« on: June 28, 2008, 05:17:39 AM »
hi everyone. I love the sight and the people here. I visited the site for months before I joined a few weeks ago. I found this site to be better than the other air gun forums and I especially loved the hunter's gate.

now, why the "stormxt" name. well before I joined, I wanted to have an air-rifle. my first was the "Bee man Model 1100" from Calmar. it was crap. next, the "storm xt". thet was where my name came from when I joined. had two total. first one, breach rubbed against stock and was rubbing the bluing away. second one, not as accurate as I hoped. so after playing with toys I got the air-rifle I have been looking at for about two years, the Gamo CFX. in fact, pyramid air is saved in my favorites on the CFX's description page. and it came in today. I also bought the "Leapers 3-9 x 32 AO Mil-Dot Rifle Scope Golden Image Range Estimating" with it. i order the GRT-III trigger from CDT Thursday night and got email from Charlie Friday saying it was shipped( hey Charlie, I'm the one from Baker,La 8) ) so it should be here next week. now I don't know if I should get to shooting are wait on the trigger :emoticon: .

Welcome Jared and congrats on the new shooter....  I say go ahead and shoot it until Bobs trigger arrives.  That way you'll get to shoot your new toy and also be able to feel the incredible difference there will be once you pop that golden trigger into your CFX.    I'll be looking forward to your future hunting Gate posts....

Welcome!  Yeah as Jeff says, start shooting and have some fun.  Once your gold trigger arrives and you install it, you'll have 10 times the fun once you feel the difference and see your groups tighten.  For the price PA sells them, that scope is an excellent choice; it's inexpensive, very light and has tons of features.  I have 3 of them myself...

Welcome to the forum. Your gonna love that CFX, just keep those PBA's out of it, there too light. Also when you load a pellet, be sure that the skirt is seated all of the way, otherwise when you close the breech it will shear off part of the skirt and damage the seal. I agree go ahead and start shooting and enjoy, then you can really see how much of an improvement, that magic trigger is. I think you only about 2hrs from me, if you'd like to get together, I'm in Daphne, AL, just east of Mobile from you.

Welcome Jared...I'm with the other guy's...Shoot that thing now!!!   When you get the CDT trigger in it you'll see a remarkable difference.  After you shoot the CFX for a while you'll want Charlie to do a tune on it and then you'll be amazed!!!

I have a handful of air rifles and My CFX is one of my favorite shooters. The GRT III is a must and you will never understand how you could live without it. My spring broke and I replaced it with one of Jim Maccari's custom springs along with an apex seal and a lube tune. That turned it into a different beast as well. To put it short, the CFX outshoots me and I can trim the branches off of my maple tree at 25 yards with it. Yer gonna love it!! Welcome to an addictive hobby!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I shot her yesterday, open sites, just to get a feel for the rifle. She shoots very smooth. The trigger action reminds me of the storm xt I had, so I felt comfortable on my pulls. the open sights were decent, but much better than the storm xt. I plinked at cans and whatever else I could lay a bead on. I installed the scope after I finished shooting. As the loctite was drying, I stared at her intently and couldn't wait until the next day to use the scope.

Sunday morning came and I am up early. I set my target up at 5 yards and laid off three shots. WOW! Two shots on top of each other and one shot about half a pellet's width over. I am very excited now. After 25 CP's pellets, 65 clicks POI up and 17 clicks POI left, I'm zeroed in at 20 yard's with my best 3/4"-7/8" ctc. This gun is amazing. I must admit, I am eager to get my GRT-III in. The CFX's trigger is not that bad, to me anyway. It is unpredictable though as you never really quite know when it is going to break. So if the GRT-III is really that much better than stock, and I have no reason not to believe the hundreds of positive reviews all over the net, then I can't wait to get it. :D

Welcome,    I to have a CFX that I completely love to shoot. I will be the first to tell you that I am not trying to sell you somthing only telling you what works. I started out stock and then went with everyone on this site suggested GRT III trigger.  You can not compair the two triggers the difference is NIGHT and DAY as you will soon see? For the price it's a no brainer? I have sense had my CFX Turbo Tuned by CDT  again I took recommendations from everyone on this site. It is hard to believe but it is a much better rifle now. Smoother and hits harder you can just feel it. Someone on this site told me "you think you like your CFX now wait utill you have it Turbo Tuned "?  That statement was right on the mark. All of the CDT recommendations on this site are for real no joke. Bob or aka Charlie is the real deal.  Have fun with your CFX.

Chris

Storm, take it out and shoot it a little before you put the GRT on so your jaw can hit the floor like all of ours did!!! Then keep saying Turbo Tune to yourself while falling asleep. After that.....you won't be able to get your jaw off the floor!!!!! You literally won't believe it!!! Enjoy the gun bro!!!! Good choice!!!
