Well, I left Friday and got back tonight from San Francisco -- one day, turn around left coast meeting with 4 hours of lectures and about 8 hours of air travel and airports both ways. Northern CA has smoke everywhere from the fires. SF was cold in the evenings (mid to high 50's?). I couldn't take an air gun, so I had to go more than 24 hours without pulling a trigger. And did I mention it was "Gay Pride Day" in SFO this weekend? Fortunately, I didn't really leave the hotel except to take the airport shuttle to and fro to the airport. Missed the big parade downtown, but not the huge crowds at the SFO airport. Wife Carol says it is likely due to a large influx of people flying in from all over to get married in SF this weekend, now that same-*_*_*_*_*_* [oops, same-gender?] marriage is legal there. Who knew? 'twasn't in my travel plans.
But anyway I am home now, and I have run a few rounds through all of my airguns just to calm the nerves a bit and do some "re-entry" into what I, at least, think of as a "normal" lifestyle. I have a few days off now and plan to really get some quality time in with my family and my air guns. I had a UPS package of new pellets waiting for me when I got home, so I am now well stocked with 22 Beeman Trophys, 20 JSB Exacts, and 177 RWS Hobby's (not to mention a few Vogels and some regulation 10 Meter targets for a "very discrete" project I am working on this week with a Russian acquaintance). Hey, who needs fireworks, right?
So, with no disrespect to anyone out there, wherever you are (I am absolutely sure many would be convinced I am the crazy one), for me, it's sure nice to be back here in SC, clinging to my guns, etc. etc. Hope everyone takes a moment to recall what it is we are supposed to celebrate this weekend and why that is possible!
