Stock care for new rifles
« on: October 07, 2006, 03:21:59 AM »
This is what happens to a QB stock when you apply a coat of wax to it. The top stock is fresh out of the box, the next one down has one coat and the bottom has two.

I have found that any good caranuba wax  car type ( turtle wax or mothers)works good, for a stock with a rough laquer job a little polishing compound will help, soft scrub will help also just don't go overboard, a small amount will go a long way.

Great idea Mike. I have been using a caranuba wax on all my wood stocks after I shoot them, plus a saturated rag with rem oil on all the metal. Just enough to wipe away the fingerprints.

Maybe we can put an article in the library about the Care and Maintenance of our Wood Stocks etc..
