The Cat Gets The Rat
« on: July 25, 2008, 01:34:55 PM »

I've had this lovely RWS 34 Panther for about a week now, and have been practicing with her quite a bit. Today I felt pretty confident to take her hunting so I set up at 25 yards and waited. After awhile I see a squirrel digging up the lawn and as I take aim, this huge rat suddenly comes out of nowhere and scares the squirrel off. It's broad daylight, about 5pm and the dang thing is in the open! The rat then proceeds to eat up the sunflower seeds and anything else it could find. I'm now getting ready to take this rat out when suddenly something spooks it and it runs off into the bushes. About 10 more minutes of waiting and I give up for awhile.

As the sun began setting I decided to head back there and scatter some cheerios on the lawn in hopes of the rat showing up again. Nothing. Then at about 8pm (just as the sun is almost completely gone) I see some movement so I get in the prone and look through the scope. Sure enough, the rat is back, but this time I can barely see it. I can't even tell front from back - all I see is a little blurry blot moving around. I figure it's now or never so I aim at the largest part of the blur and fire. My wife is asking if I got it. Hell, I don't know! I head out back and look around and find this in the bushes. She is one fat rat and I'm proud of my new Cat...

Hey great one Jay,

I have run out of rats at my place, for the moment anyway.  I have a heap of peanut butter and seed out to try to attract some more.

Good one,
Rob
