Is it a Daisy or Gamo...........????
« on: October 10, 2006, 09:23:42 AM »
Just got the Daisy 131 .177 from the mail man today. I purchased it from a guy on Gun Broker. Total cost was $48.00 plus $15.00 for shipping.

It is in excellent condition with a few scratch on the stock. Barrel is shrouded and both front and rear sites are like new. After reading the original post that Pistolero wrote about his Daisy 120, I kinda got interested. He mentioned the fact that Daisy sold a couple other models, the 130 and 131 that had the newer Gamo trigger and could be swapped out with the CDT GRT-III trigger. Pistolero also mentioned that he love his Daisy for lite shooting and even was very accurate. I want to thank Pistolero for his post and review on the Daisy.

I shot off a couple shots after I opened the box in anticipation and it was a pleasant surprise. Easy cocking and seemed to be accurate. I had been shooting 50 yard targets with my CFX .177 before the Daisy arrived so I raised the barrel of the Daisy and aimed through the iron sites and hit somewhere on the target from 50 yards out. Does not seem to have allot of power and that is ok because I will be using it to shoot close range " 30 yard targets "..

Anyway I did not know where to put this post since it says Daisy all over the barrel but obviously it is made by Gamo in Spain..he he.

I will be rebuilding the Daisy 131 and refinishing the stock. I will throw up a picture in the post before I tear it all down..

LOL Vince..... Good one..

I started disecting the Damo today. Looks like it had never been apart. The screws were fresh and still black. No signs of being tightened or loosened. I took some pictures of the stock for later. I started stipping the stain and varnish off and that is as far as I have gotten. I notice that the original stain is really embeded into the wood. Don't know if I will be able to get it all the way down to bare wood.

Will keep everyone informed as I progress..

I for one am looking forward to what you find and how you progress. but since mine is in almost NIB condition outside any mods will only be internal for me. I like these little guns, they remond me of the other little guns in my collection[24C, R7,CR 180, CR 700, Damo 120, BSA Airsporter, Mendoza RM377). All are sweet mid powered shooters (I doubt any go over 700 fps in 177 and most a lot less) Not all are 177's there are a couple of 22's in the mix as well. Fun guns not power blasters but still accurage fun shooters.

Well Pistolero, I am allmost done with the Damo stock.. :) AKA Daisy 131. It has been rough refinishing it. The rifle was in excellent condition except for a few scratches on the stock that could not be rubbed out or fixed without completly refinishing the stock. I have the new CDT trigger ready to install. Actually the gun has never been appart. I will not do any lubing or tuning on it till I get a feel for how it shoots.

I am looking to buy a Gamo Cadet next. It looks alot like the Daisy 131. Will probably have the Daisy 131 back together next week and I will take a picture of it and put in a post.

Thanks for you help Pistolero
